2.1 Structure and Functions of the company
TAQA implements a flat organizational structure in which there are only a few or no levels of management. The company has mainly top management. Such type of culture promotes the involvement of employees in decision making by working together. Though various departments exist but are not defined as they are aware of their responsibilities. In such type of structure, operations manager at TAQA focus on how all operations are being carried from the supply of raw materials to the production of finished products. The manager also focusses on how work is to be distributed among subordinates. Another is the project manager who authorizes the work being done and evaluate the performance of employees. This type of structure at TAQA enables in effective utilization of resources.
The various functions within the organizational structure of TAQA are as follows –

HR- This function of TAQA emphasizes on appropriate recruitment and selection of employees along with their compensation.
IT – This department at TAQA focusses on carrying the operations with the latest technological innovation. This involves the active management of information about raw materials as well as products.
HSSE – Health, safety, security, and environmental function of TAQA always focus on the overall health and safety of the entire staff.
2.2 Different functions working together to optimize the performance
All the functions of the organization work in collaboration with one another to achieve a common goal. Until and unless the different departments work together until then, targets will not be achieved. For example, the HR department of TAQA works with operations to know the attributes of required personnel to work in services. The HR manager also assesses the number of staff needed for the operations and projects. Also, he collaborates with the finance team to manage funds for carrying recruitment and selection. Compensation, as well as rewards, are also decided by both the departments. The research and development department synchronizes with the operations department to analyze the customer needs and new products in the market. Also, the logistics department coordinates with finance and operations functions to ensure the timely delivery of products.
2.3 Culture of the organization and its effect on operations
TAQA adheres to a mixture of clan and adhocracy culture. Clan culture is one in which a family-like working environment is given to the employees. Here, the emphasis is laid on achieving organizational goals by working together and coordinating with one another. Also, the focus is placed on effective nurturing and mentoring of employees by organizing appropriate training and development sessions for the employees. An open-door policy is incorporated at TAQA, which encourages open communication within the organization and building trust. This enables the leaders and managers to give feedback to employees and conduct open discussions with them. In addition to this, TAQA also implements an adhocracy culture, which is innovative, dynamic, and entrepreneurial. This makes the organization risk-taking and focuses on doing work first. Owing to such type of culture, TAQA has been functioning in oil and gas exploration, pipelines, storage of gas underground, and water desalination. The company is listed on Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange and earned a revenue of AED16.1 billion in 2016 (TAQA AT A GLANCE, 2019). The company also operates in Europe, India, North Africa, and North America.
