Motivation is a vital element in any working place. Work seems easy and fun when employees are motivated. One of the major motivators for employees is providing a pleasant-healthy place of work. A clean and stimulating environment impacts creativity contentment and productivity. Factors like privacy, noise and the ambience should be considered to enhance work flow. An employer should also encourage healthy attitudes by providing access to exercise and promoting habits that helps the staff to reduce stress and maintain their energy levels.

Another major factor that motivates a team is providing an opportunity for self-development for the members. Learning makes team members enhance their skills as they learn (Peter). It results to greater achievement. Self-development opportunity should be designed to suit the employee, which can be achieved through inviting employee to mentor someone, setting challenging targets or offering further training. This also makes them acquire knowledge in technology evolution and advance in their careers.

Motivation by social needs refers to the access to society a person gets when they agree to be an active participant of that particular society. Leaders can use this idea to motivate staff by limiting access to society when privileges are abused and misused.

Theory X concept is where the managers are authoritative and assume that employees needs supervision constantly. They further assume that team members has to be motivated extrinsically to have good results and they don’t need responsibility. On the other hand, theory Y managers believe their staff needs more responsibility and they should be part of decision making. They believe everyone has something valuable to offer. Theory Y is preferably since employees gain self-worth from doing meaningful work that is fulfilling.
