Teen Challenge Women’s Home in Davie

Introduction

In the recent world that we are living, the lifespan of an individual is gradually reducing. In implication, the number of ageing people is diminishing compared to that of the young adolescent boys and girls worldwide (Bicknese, 2015). Several factors have been reported to be critical contributors to this issue. Among the mentioned factors are drug and substance abuse. Many young people have been idle due to different reasons, and this has made them opt for engagement in practice. Others, due to the low rate of employment in most of the countries like Florida, have engaged in the criminal practice to earn their living. It should be understood that this problem is not only felt by the male gender in society but also its counterpart.  Young people have gotten lost in the evil practices, and they mostly end up being imprisoned others losing their lives in the process. For instance, Rick Fernandez was once in his life a gang; he used to kill people to earn money. Throughout his life, he encountered many punishments involving imprisonment. Rick later got reformed and devoted his life to God. His story is the trending one in most parts of the world like the south of Florida (Bicknese, 2015). The permanent way of treating the addiction of the evil practices like killing of people, drug and alcohol abuse among others have been proved to be entirely devoting your life to God as advocated by Teen Challenge Women’s Home in Davie. This program has reportedly helped many people in the world who were the victims of the latter, especially women hence its name Women’s Home in the Davie.

Discussion of the Program

The program is officially known as an Adult and Teen program. It is an international program that offers residential care that is Christian-based to adults and young people. The care is provided exclusively to those people who are facing difficulties in controlling their lives. It is required that for an individual to become fully reformed, the program takes him or her twelve months to eighteen months (Bicknese, 2015). The program entails a group or individual biblical studies education, especially for adolescents, work projects, recreation, among other activities. There are several centres that offer this program, and each centre has different activities that are carried out in the process of rehabilitation. In implication, many of the program’s aspect slightly differ from one centre to another. Such elements include but not limited to application processes, day-to-day activities, and maybe the cost of running activities in the centre. This should not be confused to with the cost of treatment, Adult and Teen program is an unpaid program. The providers of the services re said to be nonprofit organizations.

The General Operations in the Centers

Generally, the services offered in every centre are practical ones and are known to be a bible-based course. They are aimed at transiting from substance abuse and alcohol addiction to hopeful life and liberty in Christ. The purpose of the program is to ensure that the environment, for adolescents and adults who are struggling with their life is conducive. The focus of daily practices is from classwork to recreation. It is believed to give attention and time for one to learn the new and hopeful way of living (Bicknese, 2015). The adolescents are shown on how to incorporate their lives’ new way into action over a certain period of time. It is due to this reason that the program is 12 months and above, not a 30-day practice.

The fixed and common activities of a day are structured in the following orders, although it may vary from centre to centre.

Waking up

The students in the centre, who are undergoing the process of transition, are expected to wake up early in the morning and prepare themselves ready for the day. It is routinely done to ensure that they catch up with the normal starting of the day.

Devotions

The most crucial part of the process of recovery is personal devotion. Young adolescents are required to use devotional books for this part (Bicknese, 2015). The adults are involved in serious prayers. They are also not excluded from using the devotional books. It is advisable to incorporate the readings in their prayers.

Breakfast

The staffs together with the students (both adults and adolescents) are required to avail at the cafeteria where all meals are served and eaten. The meals cleanup and preparations are students’ obligations. It is through this that the students get used to responsibilities assumption.

Morning Chapel

It is at this time that all students are required to worship their God and thank Him for the reformations He is performing in their lives. There is a particular instruction involved in starting their day (Bicknese, 2015). The playing of music is believed to play a crucial role in the transformation process. Through choir and worship in the chapel, the students can express their joy.

Group Studies

These are lecture-style classes that are said to be structured around particular issues relating to the students’ needs. Therefore, students are encouraged to participate in the group discussion.

Personal Studies

It is in these individualized studies that the students are encouraged to go through the biblical curriculum. It is believed that through the curriculum, the students get to understand the addiction reality.

Lunch

Students and the staff are supposed to settle in the cafeteria for their lunch after half a day activities.

Recreation and Finally Dinner Time

The activities for recreation vary from one centre to another. Through these activities, the students are taught the best are helpful ways of spending their leisure times. This is after they have done all the critical activities in the reformation process(Bicknese, 2015). Finally, the time for dinner comes, and the staff is accompanied by their students to have dinner together.

In conclusion, I agree that this is the best way of helping people to quit their challenging situations of fighting with drugs. Additionally, it is a cost-free program where the students enjoy rehabilitation services without paying anything.
