Introduction
Telehealth technologies are essential in achieving patient outcomes. Technology in healthcare has helped a lot to achieve the patient outcome; this is because it improves quality care and also encourages quality care delivery, which is cost-effective. The cost of healthcare in the United States has been high in many years; thus, technology can help to resolve these issues and also ensure that patients are getting quality care. Telehealth technologies can play a significant role in achieving the Triple Aim.
Effects of telehealth technologies in achieving the objectives of Triple Aim
- Improve the experience of the patient
Technology is essential when it comes to communication; through communication, patients are in a position to acquire healthcare information. Today most healthcare organizations have an app that helps them communicate with patients; this allows patients to get information regarding their health. On the other hand, the use of technology can help patients communicate with a healthcare provider at any time, and this will help patients gain experience. Today most patients use technology to understand the health issues they are facing, and this has helped many patens to understand healthcare; thus, they can now resolve some health issues. Lastly, patients by the use of health apps regularly get information that will help them to know more about health issues, how they can prevent diseases, and also on how to promote health.
- Improve the health of the population
When a patient gets to experience, it is easy for that patient to educate other patients who are from the same community. Patients, when they educate others, it is easy for that community to stay healthy because the whole community will get the knowledge they require to promote health. The use of patient education handouts also can play a significant role. When patients have the handouts, it is easy for the patients to refer any time, and this will help them improve the health of the community at large.
- Reduce per capital cost of healthcare
When patients have the experience, the number of visiting the healthcare organization will be educated. Reducing the number of visits it will result in a reduction in healthcare cost. Healthcare cost has affected many people in the United States, and due to the high cost in healthcare, most patients die due to lack of enough funds for care. Patients, if they get the experience, it will be easy for the patients to manage their condition from home, thus reduction in healthcare cost.
Telehealth as a viable solution
Telehealth technologies can be of great help in my community; this is because, in my community, most people are suffering due to a lack of information on how to control diseases and promote health because it will create awareness. Even though telehealth can be of great health, some barriers might prevent the success of it, one, the language barrier. In my community, people are used to the local language; thus, it might be hard for them to understand the medical term, and also, if the communication will not be done in the local language, then it might not help the community.
The role of the stakeholders as applied in the Triple Aim is not different because in healthcare, every stakeholder has a role to play, and it is exactly what is portrayed in the Triple Aim. A DNP can be of great help in telehealth because the triple Aim will be a guideline; thus, as a nurse, you will ensure you lead your team to achieve the set goal. I will like to know the best strategies an organization can use to change to telehealth technologies.
