The concept of traditional ecological knowledge

The concept of traditional ecological knowledge highlights how indigenous and various traditional knowledge supports the sustainability of an individual. In that regard, the territory of Huron-Wendat remains the place I feel closely related to since I lived in the area until I was ten years old. The Huron-Wendat area is located at the shores of Lake Ontario in Toronto, and it houses over thirty thousand individuals from the aboriginal people. One astounding phenomenon about the neighborhood is how the indigenous individuals in the territory rely on the traditional concepts to achieve sustainability and self-sufficiency. Among the Iroquoian speaking communities, the source of sustenance is farming, fishing, eating squash, beans, and corn. However, though the farming practice is extensive, it is done per selected seasons in a manner that does not lead to extensive land disturbance. The same practice applies to fishing activity as well. There are fishing seasons that are dictated by the cultures of the individuals. Such developments perfectly align with the TEK knowledge in the course.
