The Barbie doll have negative effects on little girls .In the 21st century many young girls have dolls to play with, and one of the most popular dolls that many mothers buy to their child are the Barbie dolls. It modified to resemble the real women with their thin bodies and their perfect faces. Currently researches show that young girls, who play with this Barbie dolls have had body image problems. Helga Dittmer, Emma Hallowell and Suzanne Ive states that “girls from age 5 1/2 to age 6 1/2 years old, that were exposed to a Barbie doll significantly depressed overall body esteem and had discrepancies between actual and ideal body size”. Furthermore Barbie dolls may negatively influence young girl’s behaviors (Dittmar 283).
According to Tara L. Kuther and Erin McDonald “Barbie dolls are pervasive within girls’ experience and may influence their developing self-concept”. Barbie dolls really do influence the way little girls think this generally affects leads to lose of traditional and cultural values in the society .For instance from the dolls one will be able to learn how a women should have the blond and blue eyed look and not be the ones that are colored (Kuther 40). In the 21st century the girls would most likely answer that a beautiful woman should be skinny, tall, blond and have blue eyes. The girls in the current generation would probably want to become socialites when they grew up since the dolls they had played with are dressed in a specific way that resemble the artists and musicians in the society (Kuther 39). Through use of the media girls are bound to have watched television before in their lives, and media is one of the most popular ways for portraying how a woman should look like. This influence girl that has come to the study, because they would have already been exposed to the ideas of what society thinks a woman should look like. This is something that we cannot change because this idea has been engraved in the minds of the girls.
In the 21st century the young girls through use of social media like face book and YouTube get access to pornographic materials .The porn pictures or videos will affect them emotionally and they could like to copy some characters in dressing and others would like to be naked like the porn actors this really is contrary to the cultural norms (Kuther 39). Most of the girls in the society have developed that eager to bleach out their faces when they grow up aiming to get more beautiful look to attract men, this is copying what they see from the musical celebs and other famous people the world. According to the traditions and culture of the society this is unethical and it is going against the taboo.

The current generation is characterized by technological advancement, innovations and more positive changes in the whole world. There are several challenges to the society which result from this change in technology for instance traditions and values are highly affected and generations come up with different cultures copied from other people in the world. The new generation should come up with new strategies to address such issues because it is contributing to moral decay in the whole society. Parents should also play their role in teaching young girls and boys’ good morals. Some films and TVs program should be watched by adults only.
