The first industrial revolution

Industrial revolution refers to a sudden and rapid change from a pre-industrial society to an industrial society of the most recent economic growth. The industrial revolution was characterized by technological, social economic as well as cultural features. The technological transition was characterized by the use of energy sources of fuels and power-driven machines like steam electricity and petroleum. The first industrial revolution led to a factory system which ensured that there is a division of labor and specialization of work. Britain was the first industrial state where the change took place from the 1750s to the 1850s. During the first revolution of industrialization, Britain disallowed the exportation of equipment, trained labor force and manufacturing of techniques. The first industrial revolution is a major concern in the modern world despite the emerging impacts of world human population growth, living and production and rising energy demands.

The modern world has experienced numerous impacts as a result of the industrial revolution. The resulting effects of the revolution in the industries started when the application of equipment was used to outdo manpower and it was exercised across North America as well as Europe (Tilly et al,145). Production capacity was increased by the industrial revolution and affected all basic human necessities, including the production of food, medical facilities, shelter, and textile products. Society develops the ability to have more things rapidly and establish suitable things. Population growth has been directly affected by the industrial revolution. The growth is exposed to increased use of natural resources made by people, power-driven engines, plantations for cultivating food for human consumption, or waste by-products disposal as well as recycling of waste materials.

The impact of the industrial revolution contributes to the implication of unsustainable growth and overdependence on limited resources. Since there was a period of production and survival, the industrial revolution over the past years impacted resources that were taken for granted (Hartwell,110). The transition was linked with more resources than the ultimate demand for them. A period of sustainability is another impact of the industrial revolution on the modern world. In this regard, the principle of environmental unity defined a change in one system which causes changes in others. The era of sustainability was brought about by the mechanisms and effects that resulted to progress to our ecology hence being in a position to enter the next revolution.

America became a victim of the industrial revolution in various ways which included the use of natural resources like water, coal, iron, copper, silver and gold. These natural resources were used by the industries to manufacture a number of products (Olsson et al,200). Immigrant workers were absolved in the united states of America who provided sufficient labor supply for the developing industries. In Europe, the industrial revolution spread over the continent all over sudden. Increased population in Europe triggered high growth in the population which was experienced at around the middle of the 18th century hence immense workforce. Subsequently, the industrial development of rich resources of iron ore, coal and textile manufacturing was drawn in connection with the industrial revolution.

The industrial revolution has both negative and positive influence on society. The negative influence includes; overcrowding in the cities due to the rampant increase in the population. The pollution of the environment deteriorated as a result of unnecessary disposal of waste products from the emerging industries, especially where the population resided (McDonough et al,140). Other natural resources like water canals used by the entire population were contaminated. The positive influences due to the industrial revolution led to a dramatic improvement in communication and transportation means because of the establishment of railways. Mechanization of the agricultural sector was another positive influence and it also led to the invention of machines. Generally, the revolution contributed to the overall development of the economy.

Life was improved and made easier to some extent through the industrial revolution proved to be hazardous to the environment (McDonough et al,140). Pollution was a challenge as a result due to contaminated water canals from the industrial discharge of waste products. The working conditions were harsh like for instance if a worker left the working zone without permission of the supervisor or careless misused of the tools or equipment, severe fines and punishment were bound to take the course of action. However, the industrial revolution over a great significance made life easier than worse because factories, steam power and increasing people to the urban centers improved their lives.
