The life of Von
Good afternoon everyone. We are gathered here today to celebrate the life of Von, who left us very suddenly and shockingly. It is a difficult day for each one of us who loved him and aches with his passing. Von was the kind of friend who would always lend a shoulder to lean on and an ear to listen. Von has gone home now, guided by his unwavering faith and by the light of the lives of everyone who loved him. As we read Von’s eulogy with deep sadness in our hearts, let us all feel honored and special for knowing the amazing person that Von was. One of the standout qualities of Von was his strong set of values, which he held himself accountable. In particular, he prided herself on being honest and standing for what was right, which was always refreshing to everyone who knew him.
As we mourn the passing of Von, we must also take heart knowing he lived a full life. In the few years we have shared with Von, we can all look back and remember the fond memories we shared with him. Von had a huge heart filled with love. Nothing gave him more joy than sharing a good joke with his friends. Von knew how to make other people’s lives rich with love and affection. The most important things to Von were faith, family, and friends. Von never cared much for material possessions. In fact, every year, he would donate to the needy. Von was the kind of person who stood by his loved ones no matter the situation, even if it meant sacrificing his time, money, or effort. His selflessness and service for others is a legacy we should all strive to develop in ourselves so that his memory will live long in us.
We have to honor Von for teaching us how to be empathetic to others. From a young age, Von had a great passion for helping marginalized individuals. Whenever he had a chance, he would join a worthy cause. For instance, as recently as 2018, he took part in rallies during black history month, LGBTQ month and women’s history month. Therefore, although he is no longer with us, we take pride in knowing that he helped change many lives for the better. Von had a special way of bringing the best in people and making people believe in themselves. Therefore, from today onwards, please honor the memory of Von by striving at all costs to make the world a better place. Especially in today’s polarized society, we should embrace anyone regardless of their gender, race, or socioeconomic status because everyone needs someone who can listen to them and accept them for who they are.
Von was always known to give his best towards his education. Despite coming from a modest family, he dedicated his time to education in order to have a better life for himself and for his family. Von had what it took to succeed, given an equal and fair opportunity to prove his worth. Von was exceptionally bright and knew he had the potential to achieve great things. He was always seen doing a crossword or completing a puzzle. During recess, as his classmates scampered off to the playground, he would often be left behind in class, solving a puzzle or playing around with a Rubik’s cube. His mind was never at ease; he was constantly working on completing a project either for himself or for a loved one. Von was a focused individual who had clear goals in life. In fact, his father recently found the diary of his 2020 goals, which was meticulously planned out. Although Von passed away before he graduated from college, we all know he had what it took to become a responsible young adult who is capable of thriving in the independence of college life and in adulthood.
Although Von’s death was sudden, her life was not faint. We all loved Von, and we will miss him dearly. His life touched the lives of so many of us gathered here today. We should all emulate Von’s work hard, enjoy the best moments of our short lives, and, most importantly, be kind to others. We cannot foresee the trials that lie ahead of us in this life. However, what Von has taught us is that we should live out our lives the best we can with a purpose and full of love and joy.
