The Limits of Mentors
The main aim of this program was to investigate what happens when a mediocre high school student from a disadvantaged background gets receives special attention. This was a case study of the federal Quantum Opportunity Program. The students in this program were exposed to professional mentors, tutoring, and a cash award. The research method used was the experimental research method. This group’s performance was compared to another control group that was not exposed to all favors to which it was exposed. The students in the program were more likely to get to colleges and further their studies compared to their peer control group
Study Outlines Challenges for Low income working Students
the study examines two cohorts through the cohorts analysis research method. It finds that the low income working students who enroll in colleges are likely to read and work for long hours as compared to their colleges who are high income working students. The low income working students are less likely to obtain bachelor’s degrees and other credentials compared to the high-income undergraduate students. The low-income students are Latino and blacks who are disadvantaged when compared to Whites. The study also found that high-income postgraduates are more likely to acquire jobs compared to their low-income counterparts.
