The objective of social workers
Discussion
Question 1
The objective of social workers is to have a positive impact on the lives of individuals and the entire community. This entails the performance of the duties and responsibilities of the profession in the best way possible. Some of the competencies that can be drawn from the article include collaboration that relates to the ability of the social workers to be part of a team and work with others (Friedman, 2014). The willingness to learn and adapt to different environments will be an essential skill that will boost the performance of tasks assigned. Social workers must also cultivate humility.
Question 2
Just like other professions that deal with the collective well-being of society, being a social worker requires that persons uphold the ethical codes of behavior. For social workers, they are expected to know the existing social policies. The general cognitive ability helps the individual to comprehend and connect various bits of information. It can be useful in situations where social workers encounter challenges while working. The professional can analyze the scenario and, through general cognitive ability, identify a way out without violating any codes of conduct. In so doing, the social workers relate incidents in the field and what was taught during training.
Question 3
Traditional leadership dictates that the employees respect the management by maintaining the status quo. In such a setting, the workers have to follow the instruction of superiors without objection (Holden et al. 2017). Traditional leadership casts a shadow on intellectual humility, paving the way for the ego to prevail. Emergent leadership, on the other hand, gives everybody the chance to solve the problem as well as they are qualified. The leader in the case can step aside and let another employee take the leading role in the matter.
