The Raven poem review
The author of the poem ‘Raven’ who is Edgar Allan Poe has tremendous talent to express the madness in individuals. The processes associated with people going mad are very interesting, suspenseful and interesting as illustrated in the poem. The author utilizes intense plus confusing to express the content of the poem for audiences. Edgar utilizes repetition, rhythm, and alliteration to exhibit the mad individual’s process concerning the loss of controlling self. The examples of alliteration in the poem include ‘Lenore’ which is a symbol of pain related to emotions, ‘Nevermore’ is the unsatisfying response from the bird and ‘chamber door’ focuses on the auditory irritation.
In regards to rhythm, the presence of rhyme scene intends to remind the audiences of paroxysmal rhythm which can’t quite be understood fully since the writer does not complete some of the lines while others are full. The author of the poem develops chaos concerning the character plus readers similarly cannot make sense of the conflict. Confusion plus chaos are expressed throughout the period of sadness that the major character goes through. The raven is the most mystifying symbol of life termination or death and the chaos present in the literature expressed through the madman’s insane state of mind.
The setting of the poem is a monotonous and silent room at night and the author features a raven that speaks a message which is negative to the terrified narrator. The raconteur has lost the love of his life called Lenore plus the raven reminds the poet about his grief. The mood of the poem constitutes depression plus darkness. The other literary devices used in the poem are onomatopoeia and assonance.
