the Soviet Union
In December 1991, the Soviet Union formally dissolved, permanently ending the Cold War between the two adversaries. After the Soviet Union dissolved the fifteen former communist parties, the Republics became independent, allowing America to become the remaining superpower of the world. Weakened army, economic failure, Soviet President Mikhail’s public dissatisfaction, glasnost, and Perestroika weakened political and economic plans led to its inescapable collapse. The Soviet Union’s collapse is often blamed on Mikhail Gorbachev’s policy actions; however, Leonid Brezhnev, his predecessor, exhausted the country’s wealth and profits instead of serving to enhance the Soviet people‘s livelihood.
