The wonderful wizard of Oz
‘The wonderful wizard of oz’ by L. Frank Baum is an American children’s novel. The book centres on a girl called Dorothy and how she meets new friends in an attempt to find her way home. Most parts of the book comprise of the adventures of Dorothy and her new friends, the Scarecrow, the tin man and the cowardly lion in the land of the munchkins.
- Frank Baum, the author of the book, is famous for writing children’s books. Baum is most renowned for writing the Oz series. Some of his famous books include ‘The land of Oz’, ‘The Emerald City of Oz’, ‘Dorothy and the wizard in Oz’ among others.
‘The wonderful wizard of Oz’ is a fantasy fairy tale. Most of the characters used in the book are fictional, and that makes the story a fantasy fairy tale.
The character of Dorothy is both soft-hearted and courageous. Although her aunt and uncle are always sad, Dorothy is still happy and lively. Her soft-heart nature comes out vividly when she helps the scarecrow, the tin man and the cowardly lion and allows them to join her in seeking the wizard of Oz. Although Dorothy has pressing matters that need to be solved, she lends a helping hand to her needy friends. Dorothy is also courageous; she finally kills the wicked witch of the west.
The best moment in the book is when Dorothy reconciles with her family. The family that was once dull and sad is now happy because of the reunion.
In summary, the book is captivating, and the use of pictures makes it interesting to read. Also, due to the simple and jargon-free language, the book is a good read for children.
