transnational crimes
Throughout this course, I have learned the roles that the criminologist engaged in during the criminal justice systems and proceedings. Here I have learned how to carry out research and studies related to law enforcement institutions. This course has also assisted me in understanding the type of crime that exists, for example, terrorism, cyber crimes, bioterrorism attacks, and many other crimes. By knowing all those crimes, there is a clear understanding of how they are approached in matters of law and rehabilitation. Throughout this course, I have understood the factors that are considered when placing a juvenile in adult jails and the effects that may happen. Also, I have learned how to come up with ethical considerations in crime case studies. Learning the meaning of parole and the reasons to be put in parole was the most entertaining part among types of sentencing.
Compared to before, my understanding of criminology has improved a lot. Previously, I thought that criminology is just a shallow topic that’s only deals with imprisonment. Currently, the knowledge of criminology has brought a burning desire to research more since it’s a broad topic that contains elements like investigation, legal procedures, and also types of modern crime such as bioterrorism that mostly regarded as a transnational crime. The transnational crimes have effects across countries. Before I used to understand that transnational crimes only occurred in the form of military wars, currently, I got to know that it can happen in different ways such as cyberbullying, hacking, scamming, and also through web-based viruses.
