Trump and Congress approve aid package for $ 15,000 billion
The largest aid package the US has ever seen has been adopted.
The House of Representatives in Washington has, as expected, voted in favor of a historically large $ 2200 billion corona relief package.
The amount corresponds to almost DKK 15,000 billion.
It is the largest aid package in US history. It must help the citizens and businesses affected by the financial consequences of the coronavirus outbreak.
The law was passed in Congress’s second chamber, the Senate, on Wednesday night. It was then passed on to President Donald Trump, who has also signed it.
That means Americans can expect a financial handover from the state.
Billions for families and businesses
Millions of families experiencing the economic downturn due to the corona crisis may have up to $ 3000 in hand. That equates to around 20,000 kroner.
The package has provided $ 290 billion to the American families.
The hardest hit businesses can benefit from the $ 500 billion donated to them.
Smaller companies have been allocated a pool of 350 billion.

$ 250 billion has been set aside for unemployment benefits for the millions who lose their jobs or have been sent home without pay.
On Thursday, figures from the United States Department of Employment showed 3.3 million Americans signed up last week.
It is the highest number ever and an explosive increase over the previous week, which offered 282,000 new unemployed.
The package also includes at least $ 100 billion in aid to hospitals and other parts of the health care system.
Approved in a split landscape
The package has come into place fairly quickly given how fragmented the political landscape in the United States is. It underlines that politicians are taking the threat of the pandemic seriously, Reuters news agency notes.
