Trump’s impeachment process

The impeachment process of every president or a prominent government official starts with the house of Congress. In other words, this house has the sole power to give reasons it impeaches an official to the Senate, which either acquits the person or removes him/her from office. Precisely the Congress plays a vital role as a constitutional court in which reasons for impeaching an official are tabled, discussed, and a vote taken before arriving at a decision. The Congress, citing important reasons, has already impeached President Donald Trump, who awaits the hearing of the Senate whether to acquit him or not (Shear & Baker, 2019). However, due to his racial discrimination, abuse of power, and obstruction of Congress, the Senate should remove Trump from office upon trying him.

Trump’s racial discrimination is a strong reason that guarantees his removal from the presidency before the end of his term. The president flirts and outright embraces racist sentiments and ideas, thus lowering the dignity of the presidency. For instance, Trump was the most noticeable and high-profile supporter of a discredited scheme that President Barack Obama was not a Native American (Cillizza, 2019). Furthermore, Cillizza (2019) reveals that Trump attacked LeBron James and Don Lemon by calling them dumb, a perception influenced by his racial bias. Moreover, according to Cillizza (2019), throughout the 2018 election campaign, Trump called California Representative Maxine Water as a low IQ individual, owing to her race. Therefore, it is needless for Trump to occupy the highest position in a superpower nation, such as the United States of America while disregarding black people.

Additionally, Trump has been spotted abusing his power on many occasions; another reason that makes it vital for the Senate to remove him from office. For instance, article I presented to Congress is about the abuse of power by Trump, which was given a historic yes vote of 230 against that of no of 197 (Shear & Baker, 2019). According to Shear and Baker (2019), all except two democrats supported the article, thus making the Congress adopt it. The article accused Trump of using his office power to coerce Ukraine’s government to publicize investigations that could disrepute his political competitors (Shear & Baker, 2019). Consequently, due to the habit of abusing his power, the Senate should find Trump unfit to hold a highly honorable office in the first-class nation, like the United States.

Finally, Trump’s habit of obstructing Congress is a compelling reason for the Senate to remove him from office. Wolf (2019) elucidates that article II of the impeachment, disclosed by the House Judiciary Committee, charged Trump with obstruction of Congress. The document was adopted after a yes vote of 229 and a no of 198 votes in the Congress (Shear & Baker, 2019). This article accuses Trump of directing categorical, unprecedented, and indiscriminate defiance of subpoenas (Wolf, 2019). Wolf (2019) further reveals that Trump has obstructed Congress by directing defiance of subpoenas of people, such as acting White House Chief of Staff Mick Mulvaney, thus hindering the course of justice. Therefore, since Trump orders complete defiance to subpoenas and obstructs Congress in its efforts to explore misdemeanors and high crimes (Wolf, 2019), the Senate should find him guilty and remove him from office.

In a nutshell, due to some valid reasons, President Donald Trump should be impeached. The flirting and outright embracing of racist sentiments and ideas are some of the ways by which Trump shows racial discrimination, a behavior that compels the Senate to remove him from office. Equally, Trump abuses his power by coercing Ukraine’s government to blackmail his political competitors. What’s more, by restricting subpoenas to some officials, Trump obstructs Congress, hence affecting the course of justice.
