 types of domains

There are different types of domains, which include user domain, workstation domain, LAN-to-WAN domain, WAN domain, system domain, and remote access domain (Freudenthal, 2015). Figure 10-5 shows a sample proxy server that is used as a technology protection measure. The proxy server can be used to perform several activities related to the request received from the client. Users can access the internet through the proxy server. The proxy server filters the requests to confirm whether the content is acceptable or it is unacceptable. If the content is acceptable, then the page is sent to the client, and the content is blocked if it is unacceptable.

Relating to the information shown in figure 10-5, I can say that the user domain is the most important domain at home or even in the workplace. The user domain includes people (Lucic & Blake, 2015). In my workplace, these people will be users, employees, and other workers in the organization. At our home, we will be the users. Users can access the internet and end up downloading malicious software without their knowledge. The users can also transfer affected files from their drives to the computers at the workplace. Once one computer is infected, then the others in the entire network will also be affected.

The user domain enables users to possess objects and share them without any significant challenges (Yan et al., 2014). Many attackers target the user domain since they know that it will be easy to play around with the users’ minds. Concerning laws and regulations, the users should follow HIPAA requirements. So, this means that the users should understand the data they are sharing. The users, especially librarians, should understand CIPA, which requires them to know how to turn off the TPM for adults.
