Under the Dome film review
The film Under the Dome creates awareness in the various approaches that people should use in dealing with climate change issues such as air pollution. The film blames the government, be it the US or the Chinese government, on the rising cases of climate change and their subsequent impact on human life. Based on the use of images in the film, environmental pollution causes emotional pain and illness among children, primarily due to the effects of industrialization. An exciting fact stemming from the documentary is the fact that governments ignore the issue of climate change and environmental pollution for their bureaucratic benefits.
This is an interesting fact as the issue of climate change and bureaucracy continuously influence government decisions that might affect economic achievements, more so industrialization and urbanization. I would advise my peers to advocate for policy changes that would allow governments to commit funds to deal with the issue of climate change. The older generation is most vulnerable to environmental pollution and climate change, and I will encourage them to advocate for changes in health policies to ensure they have the right medical care. The evidence provided about the impact of environmental pollution and climate change on human health will enable them to present tangible evidence and force governments to appropriate changes that would limit these adverse effects. Special interest groups such as environmental lobbyists and activities will also rely on this information to advocate for environmental policies that will help reduce the scourge of environmental pollution and climate change. However, special interest groups such as those drawn from the economic circles will be critical of policy changes as they have a stake in industrialization and urbanization. Fundamentally, financial interest groups representing big businesses such as manufacturing, industrial, commerce, and electricity corporations will have no interest in such proposals as they aim to protect their business and profits.
The issue of climate change, as documented in the film Under the Dome, poses several questions more so the impact of industrial activities on global warming and changing temperatures. In this case, the forthcoming UN climate change conference will be a perfect venue to discuss how developed nations such as China and the US and their respective governments, are influencing the ongoing climate change issues. The aim will be to discuss how these countries can implement policies to shield poorer nations from their mega industrial projects that contribute to global warming, such as the institution of fines. It is only through courage that we can challenge governments as some of these big countries can coerce weaker nations to accept policies in return for economic gains. As Christians and non-Christians, we must not show fear as God has not created a spirit of fear in us. Hence, we should not be paralyzed by anxiety, fear, or guilt but must be steadfast in our call for effective policies that will eliminate or minimize environmental pollution.
I will incorporate a formal writing style as I will be addressing delegates drawn from government institutions, the private sector, and interest groups. I will use a vocal tone when pressing a point as this will ensure they understand that I am making an important point and thus make sure they listen to what I am saying. The same tone will also be used to the hostile audience to signal that I mean what I am saying about the impact of environmental pollution and climate change.
I will integrate the services of the New York Times as it a globally acknowledged and appreciated media of communication in the western world. This newspaper will be used to target the friendly audience as it has been known to steer and command actions once policy issues have been published in its journals. However, for the hostile audience, I will use the Wall Street Journal as mostly focuses on economic policies. Thus I will be able to challenge the economic and environmental policies of special economic groups.
As a scholar in climate change and political science, I have the right political communication skills to motivate and engage political players in discussions on environmental pollution and climate change. I have participated in various climate change advocacy and activism programs and have also been a climate change policy intern at the UN headquarters in New York. My connections with the UN special rapporteur for climate change and UNEP’s Executive Director create the necessary environment to drive this agenda forward.
My focus is on the failure of western governments to facilitate policies that will improve the health and social outcomes of communities affected by climate change and environmental pollution. I will criticize Chinese and US governments for their failure to control industrialization and the emission of greenhouse gasses from their manufacturing industries to emphasize the real issues surrounding climate change.
Statistical data from the UN and the Climate Change Initiative show increasing global temperatures for the last ten years and how industrial emissions have contributed to this issue. This information will be used for my friendly audience. For my hostile audience, I will include graphs and charts revealing how economic activities and policies within their respective institutions have facilitated this cycle of environmental pollution and climate change.
To my friendly audience it is important to understand how government policies are creating environmental pollution and how they can alter them to improve the health and well-being of the community. In the case of the hostile audience, I will reveal statistical evidence revealing how economic growth has facilitated inequality and the policies that must be changed to navigate this issue.
I hope my responses will inform economic interest groups representing big businesses such as manufacturing, industrial, commerce, and electricity corporations about the dangers of climate change as they play a crucial role in the economic and development as they control government actions, more so corporations and multinationals. Multinational corporations are involved in industrial and commercial activities that pollute the government. Still, since the government relies on these institutions to facilitate financial and developmental growth, it becomes difficult for governments to force them to change their policies.
