Since time immemorial, individuals have been searching for immortality, with none comes close to the discovery. However, Ethereum Co-founder Vitalik Buterin believes people could get the long-sought longevity if they combine efforts towards its research. In his tweet dated March 10, Vitalik Buterin stated:
“If we’re more open-minded about accepting new weird ideas, can I suggest anti-aging research? Aging is a humanitarian disaster that kills as many people as WW2 every two years and even before killing debilitates people and burdens social systems and families. Let’s end it.”
Buterin sentiments gained a lot of support from different individuals are already ongoing woks by SENS Research Foundation, a non-profit that “works to research, develop, and promote comprehensive regenerative medicine solutions for the diseases of aging.”

This is not the first time Buterin has shown interest in anti-aging research. Buterin made his first donation to the by SENS Research Foundation research back in 2017. A year later, in 2018, Buterin donated $2.4 million to the Foundation.
Yeah, “end death” is pretty much the goal. Ending death from viruses is already widely understood to be a noble goal to shoot for, I want ending death from aging to be viewed similarly, and for us to make significant progress against both.

While many might appreciate the mere thought of long life, some in the community opposed Buterin and those that shared his line of thinking. Some dismissed his views as a poor joke “even for nerds.” Others believe there are many pending issues surrounding life that need to be handled before anyone can thing of immortality.
“What about ending poverty, homelessness, hunger, war, environmental disregard, and preventable diseases first? What’s the point of an individual becoming near-immortal if they still have to deal with a system that needlessly and unnecessarily imposes artificial hardships on them?”

Additionally, some claim that they have come to terms with the fact that they will one day die. This group thinks that the certainty of death is far better than the risk of new possibilities
