Warning
Warning is an alarm to something dangerous that is yet to occur or to be seen. It serves as cautionary advice and it denotes a threat to a great event or plan long before it happens. It provides a different view of an event and meant to help in planning for precautionary measures to prevent the negative thing from happening. Most of the people tend to focus on the positive side of an event and ignore the consequences yet everything has advantages and disadvantages. They are ignorant to warnings because they lack knowledge on the idea or the event and others because they are in control and the beneficiary of the event. They always try to make the warning providers inferior and them a chance to express their fears. Most of them give up because of the opposition and rejection the get from those in control. It takes a strong person like Brooksley who knows what she was protecting and she was not intimidated and fought for truth.
It is not necessarily that whatever has been foreseen will come to pass but most of the warnings have come reality. It said that prevention is better than cure and thus it is better to take a precaution even though it may not happen. It is good to listen to the warnings because the consequences are worse and the cost stopping is great. People think their ideas are great and they don’t know what will happen in future and it takes another mind to analyse the possible outcomes and provide warnings if there are any. Greespan thought his idea of LTCM was going to boost the American economy but he comes to admit later that there was a great mistake. If only the government had taken Brooksley’s warning seriously, they would have come up with another idea to prevent the downfall of the economy.
Warnings may seem to be minor things but they of great significance especially where huge amount of money or assets are involved. They should be taken seriously even though the person giving the warning is not important.
