What is microdosing?
Microdosing is the technique of taking minimal doses of psychedelic drugs, commonly referred to as magic mushrooms, such that the drug will hardly produce whole-body effects but will allow cellular reaction for study. The widely used therapy drugs include LSD and psilocybin mushrooms.
The technique is a highly growing trend and the key to feeling more focused and bettering oneself. The doses which are below the threshold are usually too low to ‘trip’ but high enough to evoke an internal reaction.
History of microdosing
Microdosing has its roots in the 1960s, where Dr. James Fadiman was the first to experiment with psychedelic drugs to find out the effects such drugs have on the human mind. In his groundbreaking research, he targetted Scientists, Architects, and engineers and gave a dose of LSD and a hallucinogen. This pioneering research was done just before there was a food ban on substance LSD. Don't use plagiarised sources.Get your custom essay just from $11/page
Dr. Fadiman did not stop there! He recently published a book titled the Psychedelics explorers guide, and his research is still ongoing. He has recently ventured into micro-dosing research. He researched how negligibly small doses of psychedelic drugs affect the everyday lives of the users. Part of his research has been through questioning hundreds of users.
Why microdosing?
The main reason for microdosing is the fear of bad ‘trips’ which can occur as a result of large doses of psychedelics. The idea of intense spiritual or personal experiences is uncomfortable and undesirable. Therefore, although there are ways of preventing such occurrences, it is always easier to go small.
Also, large doses are impractical if you still want to go about your daily activities. A large dose of LSD would take the user up to two days for the user to get back to reality and experience the benefits of the psychedelic. Who has two days off work to use a psychedelic?
Also, the preparation before using the psychedelic will consume a lot of time. A day or two will be the shortest time you can take to get yourself ready.
Finally, it can be challenging to get it right with large doses of psychedelics. An ideal environment to use psychedelics would be a professional setting where there are experts and protocols and even aftercare. Therefore, recreating the atmosphere in your home can be difficult.

Side effects of micro-dosing
Addiction
Microdosing can lead to an infatuation with the heightened focus or creativity and therefore addicted to the practice.
