When you kill 10 million Africans, should you not be called a “Hitler”? How did this heartless and wretched King get away with such unconscionable acts during the colonial period? Was this a ‘holocaust’ or genocide? Share your thoughts in this discussion with your peers.
Hitler remains one of the most remembered political icons in history due to his merciless and ruthless acts of inhumanity whereby thousands of people died under his regime. The fallen icon managed numerous killings with unconscionable acts in the colonial era through his position as a chancellor of Germany. In 1932, Hitler’s party had many seats but not enough to form a coalition and thus, with the help of the former chancellor among other leaders urged Paul Von Hindenburg to appoint Hitler. It is from this point that Hitler rose to power and gained a significant popularity.
Hitler began to order the Jews out of Germany. His dictatorship form of government lead to many deaths and people would not question him because of his dictatorship policies. His brutal actions and leadership are believed to be the primary drivers of the World War 2. In the colonial era, people were not enlightened and, therefore, most leaders who had higher knowledge could exploit them and dictate on the kind of life they lived. During this time, Hitler rose to power and took advantage of the peoples’ inability to champion for their rights and demand for peace.
His case of killing was genocide because he killed thousands of people based on ethnic backgrounds. He wanted to exercise the brutal practices that had been witnessed in the World War 1. In this brutal and massive killing, it is estimated that Hitler managed to terminate over ten million people rendering his act to be genocide. These people were killed on ethnic grounds since he mostly killed Jews. Hitler’s regime also led to massive killings of other civilians such as prisoners and soldiers. His act of massive killing is, therefore, considered genocide.
