Business Law Question & Economic Question

Economic Question

The right to quality education is absolute as the society needs to have educated people. Education ensures that society develops solutions to its problems. Education should not be an entitlement but an absolute right that the government must provide to all people. Education is a positive externality that cannot be considered as an entitlement which shall translate into it being paid for by all people. Citizens pay taxes so that the government can provide these externalities. Positive externalities are provided for the interest of society. Education allows one to attain skills and knowledge that benefit the wider community in several ways (Economics Online, n.d). The government has a responsibility to implement economic policies which promote positive externalities like education. Imperatively, the government can increase its subsidies and offer grants to education providers and other producers of goods and services so that they generate more benefits and create the demand for education as a positive externality. Education is a public good and government can only enhance its demand by providing more public amenities and goods like roads. For instance, people do not pay for education until when they join colleges and universities. Therefore, through tuition subsidies, the government can encourage more young people to join university.

Business Question

Bob Smith should not have his associates paint Betty’s house because such a decision amounts to subcontracting. The two associates have little experience yet Betty wants her home to have the best painting so that it can increase its value. Betty understands that Smith is a renowned and an accomplished painter who has the ability to make the home beautiful and increase its valuation. By giving the job to the associates, Smith will abrogate his obligations as a contractor (Hanks, 2019). The implication is that Betty may sue him for a contractual breach should he have his associates do the painting job for Betty. Such arrangement would need Betty’s approval so that it does not lead to legal tussles due to a breach of contract.
