Analyze Octavia Butler’s Kindred using the theory of intergenerational trauma or any other theory that you find significant and relevant to the piece (e.g. Marx, Foucault, Alexander, or Spurr).
For this essay, you should do the following:
In your introduction, provide a short summary of the text.
Identify your main claim (thesis statement) about the issue.
Develop ideas/reasons to convince your readers of your main claim.
Support your various ideas/reasons with specific examples and quotes or paraphrases from the texts we have read in class and from outside sources. Remember to have one to two quotes per paragraph.

Remember to always explain the relevance of those examples/sources as they relate to/support your claim.
Cite at least four sources. At least two of your sources must come from scholarly sources. Your other two sources can come from books or popular sources. Remember to use the library databases to find the outside sources.
Explain and refute some objections to your argument (the counterargument).
In your conclusion, reiterate the importance of your claim.
The essay should be at least 6 pages in length, free of grammar mistakes, and written in proper essay format; please see the “Essay Format” section of the syllabus for a thorough description of what this entails. You must also have a Works Cited page for this essay; this page does not count toward the 6 page requirement.
