Analysis of National Security
The concept of national security is very essential in any country. Mainly, national security is a critical requirement used in maintaining the survival of a country via the use of political power, power projection, diplomacy, and economic power. In that regard, any country aiming to possess national security, then it is of importance to embrace environmental security, energy security, and economic security. Thus, the chief objective of this paper is to analyze the issue of national security based on three articles on national security.
The first article to analyze in the issue of national security is “The limit of national security” by Laura Donohue. According to the author, national security has been practiced throughout history. In the United States, the author claims that national security has been threatened by different aspects such as the Revolutionary War. Besides, the National Security in the United States has been compared to other countries as a standard strategy used in the military containment and industry growth. Moreover, national security is also applied in reductions of federal deficit, health care, energy, innovation, science, infrastructure, immigration, education, and economic growth. The article also articulates several key variables underlying different threats to national security. Some of the threats associated with national security are based on the domestic environment, demographics and culture, military and political, and technology.
The second article to consider on the issue of national security is “Mapping the knowledge of national security in the 21st century a bibliometric study” by Asmi et al., 2018. According to the authors, the main consideration of national security is based on evolution, development, and intellectual structure. Besides, the article asserts that national security has achieved great evolution from 2000 to 2017. The main concept used in the analysis of national security is vested in the scientometric analysis that has been applied in the new millennium. Moreover, the authors claim that national security deals with climate, health, sustainability, and food insecurity. The article also connects national security with the security of networks, cybersecurity, and information security. In terms of bias, the national security presence that issues of policy and political agenda that remains undefined in the institutional, territorial, and sectorial settings.
The third article to consider in their analysis is “The nation-state, national security and resilience in the age of globalization” by Christian Fjadar. Mainly, the article analyzes the issue of national security through the role of sovereign governments. It also indicates the concept of resilience used in national security via the rise of resilience, national security strategies from different aspects of life. The article also presents the issue of national resilience through the identification of practices and policies used in national security. Moreover, the author explored the role of sovereign governments in national security. National security also deals with positive political aspects of the global world. In that regard, the concept of national security has a wider view of the societal, environmental, and economic aspects of the national security agenda. Moreover, national security has a great connection with the nation-state that propels the core values in society. Overall, the author recommends the nation-states to use the resilience and preventative approaches in addressing issues of national security. The society should embrace the importance of national security to enhance growth and development on social, political, economic, trade, military, and technological aspects.
