Then, the blue water in container B was transferred to a container of different size and height. Then he was asked if the amount of blue water contained was of the same amount as that in A, and he answered that they are not of the same amount because the heights of the volume varied from that of A. The child said that the level of the blue water in B is much higher than that of blue water in glass A.

When you conducted your experiment with the adult (or adolescent), what were his/her answers?

When I experimented the same experiment on an adult, she gave me the following answers;

On the experiment on coins -she mentioned that the coins are the same, five in both columns despite being spreaded apart; hence she added that the difference is just but space it occupies when spread.

On the length of the two sticks -the adult mentioned that the two sticks are equal despite the changes in positions when one is moved over.

On the experiment on the blue water -the adult observes that the amount of water on both classes is the same. When I transferred the same amount of blue water in glass B, she noted that the volume of the blue water in both glasses is equal. The only difference is that the size of the two cylindrical glass is different.

On the issue of clay balls -the adult observed that both balls have the same amount of clay. When I smashed one of the clays to a shape that resembles that of a pancake, the adult insisted that the same amount of clay was used; the only difference is the space the one that is smashed occupies.

Based on the little boys’ answers and the adult (adolescents), you experimented on, what can you conclude about the knowledge of conservation? Why did you come into this conclusion?

In the experiment on the five coins, the little boy is confused by space between the currencies when the coins are wide spread across, but the adult is so keen; hence, she said that the total number of coins is the same despite being widely spread.

On the length of the two sticks –the little boy is confused when one stick is placing ahead of the other one, but the adult claims that the height remains the same even when one is set a head of the other one. Here the little boy does not understand that the length remains the same despite the changes in distance.

On the experiment on the blue water -the little boy is confused by the height of the glass; hence he thinks that the taller glass has a lot of blue water, but to the adult, this is not the case.
