 Business Continuity

Topic 1: Business Continuity PrioritiesBusiness continuity plans are fundamental aspects of organizational recovery after occurrences of unforeseen crisis (Elliott et al. 2010).  They outline the procedures viable for an organization to follow if such an emergency occurs.  They are put in place in order to be also an “a shield” against losses of assets as well as human resources. Business Continuity Plans also play the role of keeping stakeholders alert of the early warning signs that could result in the crisis. This paper will analyze the possible BCP of a community-owned health center.

The stakeholders to involve in the BCP process

Been a community-based health care center, the general public is the most important stakeholder. It is, therefore, essential to ensure that they are involved in the development of such plans. Engaging the public could take various forms, such as public participation consultation forums.  Once the public is involved, it becomes easy for the management of the health center to inform and involve the public who feel they have a sense of ownership in the project.

The government healthcare sector is also an important stakeholder to involve in this project. This is because expertise is also crucial for the management to foresee the possible crisis that may occur and retard the business.  The ministry of health will also provide key regulation guidance in terms of policy information and legal perspectives of the healthcare sector..

Lastly, the healthcare workers in the facility should also be involved in the BCP process so as to provide key information on the trends of the business.  For instance, they are likely to give key information on consumer needs. In this case, the doctors have a better understanding of the needs of this particular local community and thus are likely to be in a better position to point out the key preparedness that needs to be put in place to meet the need that may arise due to unforeseen circumstances.

Topic 2: Sustainable Design and Business Continuity

Sustainable designs refer to the business planning that strives to ensure that there is a minimal negative impact or rather destructions on the regular running of the organization.  This design has its advantages as well as disadvantages. This section will evaluate the advantages as well as the disadvantages of this particular model.

Pros and cons of Sustainable Design and Business Continuity

One of the key advantages of this approach is the creation and improvement of business short and long term effectiveness.  Basically, the design aligns the organizational goals with day to day operations of the business (Herbane et al., 2004). In turn, this is likely to increase the sustainability of the venture.

Another key benefit of this design is its ability to incorporate into business the plans of both the long and long term. This means that management is able to plan and allocate resources effectively. This consequently ensures that there is preparedness even in the face of crisis, such as sudden inflation or dysfunctional financial structures.

This design also various cons. For instance, there is minimal room for flexibility. This is because there are laid down strict procedures for doing things. Lack of flexibility is hazardous in any business as it limits the role of market forces of demand and supply, which are the best mechanisms of business regulation.
