Qualtrics Discussion
One of the advantages of using Qualtrics is that it increases the overall response rate enabling respondents to answer survey questions at their own pace. Secondly, Qualtrics significantly reduces the costs of data collection compared to the person to person approach. Surveys are done in a fast and affordable manner. Moreover, Qualtrics allows the researcher to access the results faster and in real-time, which makes survey analysis effortless and straightforward. The fourth advantage is that Qualtrics makes it easy to customize survey requirements by allows easier response and adjustment in case an error occurs for more accurate data collection.
The disadvantage of using Qualtrics is that most respondents are more likely to engage in survey fraud. For example, where the survey is long and confusing, people may provide fake answers to get the reward at the end of the study. Secondly, Qualtrics is limited from carrying out surveys from respondents that do not have access to the internet. Thirdly the data reliability may be affected if the questions are not carefully drafted and due to lack of probing. Fourthly the cooperation of the respondent is a major threat for online surveys because they answer the survey questions as they wish and from distant locations. This makes it difficult to detect biases that affect research validity.
I would choose to use Qualtrics because it is cheaper, faster, and more reliable. Indeed, person to person surveys because they are more authentic. However, the costs associated with person to person surveys are quite an issue of concern for most researchers. Moreover, the time used to analyze the results is another concern. However, in Qualtrics advantages outweigh the disadvantages as it enables the researcher to target a larger group of people from a wider geographical region and obtain survey findings from places that would be inaccessible while using the person to person surveys.
