SUSTAINABLE BUSINESS
Topic 2: opportunities and threats in the external environment
The Simply Orange is a juice company in Apopka in Florida, USA (Coca-Cola company, 2020). The company was founded in 2001 and has been a brand of Coca-Cola over time.
Simply orange company has the opportunity of opening up to new markets through the development of new technologies. As such, the US government has played a critical role in providing free trade within its states, thus increasing the ease of entering new markets. Besides, new trends in consumer behavior provide exploitable opportunities for the enterprise (Kenneth, 2019). Thus, the company is in a prime position to develop its revenue streams while diversifying its products. So, if the company exploits the available market opportunities, it would experience an upsurge in the sale of its Tropicana products in Florida and its neighborhoods. In addition, the low inflation rate in the market increases market stability (Kenneth, 2019). Hence, the company should articulate the opportunity to reduce its prices in a move to spur its sales. In the long run, the enterprise would govern a huge market base, thus increasing revenue margins and creating customer loyalty.
However, Simply Orange’s external environment poses threats likely to negatively impact on the business. For instance, its market is faced with intense competition due to the emergence of firms offering similar products. The increase in competition is attributable to the stable profitability the firm has achieved, thus attracting other product providers. Also, the demand for highly profitable products has been seasonal in peak spells; thus, the firm’s profitability is short to medium term. Besides, the American economy has experienced a trend towards isolationism, whereby the US has isolated its affairs from those of other nations (Kenneth, 2019). As a result, the trend has negatively impacted on international sales and poses threats to the firm’s long-term sustainability. In addition, the market stakeholders have increasingly imitated counterfeit products, which are low-quality, thus negatively impacting the sales of the company’s original products. In recent years, the company has faced lawsuits that threatened the firm’s productive margins, especially in emerging markets. Don't use plagiarised sources.Get your custom essay just from $11/page
Topic 3: innovation and creative work environment
Simply Orange’s innovation has been a result of commercializing its materials by recycling. For instance, the company has innovatively recycled the 89-oz simply package together with resin code #1 to achieve its long-term sustainability goals. As such, the newly formed polyethylene terephthalate (PET) has enabled the firm to replace the previous PETG bottles which used to melt easily. The materials that made the PETG were proclivity hence tended to stick together, shutting the whole process down (Pierce, 2018). Besides, the company has utilized innovation to improve the flavor of its products hence meeting their customer expectations. So, the business is working towards introducing new flavors into the market and packaged in new customized bottles. The newly developed Simply flavors would be available in the market in single-serve 11.5fl oz package to ensure they are unique compared to their competitors (Pierce, 2018). Finally, innovation has played a key role in the implementation of the three-prong improvement initiative to improve the company’s product recyclability.
Simply Orange has developed a creative work environment by redefining the working space as a powerful tool to achieve market success. Therefore, the firm has embarked on updating its office design to provide its workers with the right working environment, such as legacy layouts. Besides, the managers at Simply Orange ensure they carry out a well-developed aesthetic to promote creative thinking, which serves as a catalyst to growth and development (Pierce, 2018). As such, creativity at the company has been spearheaded by a competent programming system which helps realign the firm operations based on its set goals and objectives. The employees are, therefore, characterized to develop a creative approach necessary for achieving set endeavors within the stipulated timelines. The company thus allows its workers to explore and develop new ideas needed to achieve a positive change in its working environment. Often the firm celebrates the achievement of its workers and offers incentives to motivate them to work for the enterprise continuously. Finally, the firm has been at the forefront of promoting the communication and collaboration of its stakeholders.
