Bad Actors

When they are a failure in the systems, it could bring massive losses in the economics of the nations. For that reason, we need to mitigate catastrophic damage by evaluating and ranking the impact of each bad actor in the system. We have various software to determine the occurrences of the bad actor, such as fault tree analysis, to analyze the probability of the events. To ranks the impact of the bad actor, we use Bimbaum’s importance and criticality measure. For this exercise, we are going to measure the IP address provide to my team to determine the bad actors.

The following IP addresses is the one that we are going to evaluate and were given to my team 7.26.42.136, 190.142.94.44, 113.245.133.236,17.158.163.43, 82.196.6.46, 207.88.46.44, 46.3.152.107, 222.215.134.15, 85.209.52.248, 174.73.217.102, 161.234.248.208, 16.106.9.38, 209.183.236.40, and 203.96.22.39. For the exercise, we are restricted from using ip2nation.com to explore the IP. The ip2nation.com has had a free MySQL database, which offers a quick way to map any IP to any country. The database is fast for any lookup where is based on information from ARIN, APNIC, among others. Although it is hard to determine its accuracy, it is between 98 to 99 percent for randomly generated IP.

During exploring the individual IP address where there are located, we determined that 7.26.42.136, 17.158.163.43, 207.88.46.144, 174.73.217.102,161.234.248.208, 16.106.9.38, and 209.183.236.40 IP address are located in North America while 190.142.94.44 IP address is located in Venezuela, South America. We also determined that 113.245.133.236, 46.3.152.107, and 85.209.52.248 IP addresses are located in Asia. The IP address 82.196.6.46 and 203.96.22.39 were situated in Europe and Oceania, respectively. At the same time, we analyzed and determined that IP address 174.73.217.102 has a pulse of 41 when we put it into Alien Vault Open Threat exchange.

To determine the bad actors and good actors, we are going to use IP-Tracker.org. All the IP address are going to be tracked and according to IP-Tracker.org 172.73.217.102 IP address located in North America have a successful reverse DNS thus it the process was good though it has a pulse of 41. Ns.east.cox.net server provided a more significant corroboration for the website being tested. We determined that we have bad actors, while other IP addresses are successful. The bad actors their processes were not auspicious, meaning something went wrong. Though we can say that 82.196.6.46, 207.88.46.144, 222.215.134.15, and 16.106.9.38 IP addresses were bad actors since at first, it seems to be successful, but something went wrong at last. The process proved to us that the IP addresses are bad actors since they pose a threat to the nations using them.

The bad actors IP address pose a threat of hacker or attackers to attack the countries where there are located. According to John Pike (Global Security), the United Kingdom’s global strategy, goal, and policies are to use the universal diplomatic system to guard and promote the United Kingdom’s interests worldwide. The United Kingdom as well needs to keep in mind and build its international influence in specific areas. According to John Pike (Global Security), “The UK aims to continue a strong, close and honest correlation with the United States that conveys concrete benefits for both sides, and to progress the British national interest through an effective EU policy in essential areas, engaging constructively while protecting national sovereignty. The UK strive for to deliver more effective and modernized international institutions, particularly the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, the European Union, the United Nations, the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe and the Council of Europe.

Besides, it was working to strengthen the Commonwealth as a focus for promoting democratic values, human rights, climate-resilient development, conflict prevention, and trade; while using soft power as a tool of UK foreign policy; promote British values, including human rights; and contribute to the welfare of developing countries and their citizens (Pike, nd).” By utilizing our selected IP address, the United Kingdom would be and remain protected from malicious attacks.
