PERT technique This week’s learning is on the topic project scope, project time, and project cost management. During this week, I gained knowledge of the PERT technique. The PERT technique is known as the program evaluation and review technique. I understood the significance of this technique, which helps in the project tracking at different time intervals and the probability of the completion of the project. I also learned about the resource optimization concept this week. This technique is useful to adjust the project implementation, and project completion dates as per the resource availability. This technique assumes that the project has limited resource availability. The resources can be anything from equipment, people, materials, facilities, etc. All these resources should be considered while planning. Healthy and unhealthy foods Q.1 My favorite unhealthy foods include French fries, cookies and cakes, pizzas, and soda. Most of these are harmful because they contain a very high content of sugar or fats. To make these foods healthy, one should try and reduce the fat content in them and also reduce the amounts of sugar used to prepare the meals. Eating them on a few occasions would also help. One can also replace them with healthy foods like milk instead of soda, arrowroots instead of cakes and also choose foods with wholesome ingredients. Q.2 Some of the food supplements that I consume include foods fortified with supplements like calcium of vitamin B12. These supplements help to cover for the deficit that might be there in the foods that I eat. Eating much healthier food rich in nutrients can help reduce the need for using dietary supplements. In his article “Against School,” by former public-school teacher and educational consultant John Taylor Gatto, the author analyses the origin of compulsory mass schooling in the United States. The article challenges parents and educators to carefully reconsider the mission of public education and evaluate whether it can, in fact, be successful in developing bright minds capable of problem-solving. Ultimately, he concludes, public education is failing. After reading the John Gatto article, I agree that public education is hindering the development of creative and independent thinkers. State-funded schools are not inspiring students due to the rigid curriculum, standardized testing, A-F grading system, and poor classroom discipline. The rigid structure of our current educational curriculum does not allow for creativity in teaching or creative students. To bring back the history of dances that show a fascinating part of human culture, all kinds of roots in ancient civilization to these modern times, a proper survey has to be done.
