Reflection

Reflection Reading the quiet violence of dreams was very enlightening. However, I found reading the novel fluently a challenge since it was composed of several changes in the flow. In the story, the author employs the use of different points of view of different characters, and this makes it difficult to follow. I had to read back and forth for me to understand the concepts that the author was discussing. I, however, managed to work through the challenges through writing down every character in the book, and I would take notes on when the voice of a particular person is reflecting or speaking. Through this, I was able to read the book and understand it. Some of the essential parts that I came across include the concept of hypocrisy that is depicted by the African society. Ideally, the community of Africa is willing to accept and accommodate immigrant gays but not those who are from their continent. I feel that this is a common thing, and raising it in the book is a reflection of the nature of African society.

However, I have selected a scholarly article that concentrates on different treatment methods fo enhance prevention and fight for mental health problems. It was very frustrating and annoying when I started the search for a full-text scholarly article. Walden Writing Center readdressed me to UIC Research Guides, which led me to various reports in MEDLINE via PubMed@UIC and EMBASE: Excerpta Medica Database. All the efforts were yielding no results since they required signing in, which was a bit difficult since, in the signing in process, they needed payment methods to continue. This would be very expensive, so I opted for other alternatives. I went back to Waden Library for more options, and this time it was successful. Searching was made more accessible because…

Roughing it in Bermuda Roughing it in Bermuda provides a close text analysis of Susanna Strickland Moodie’s literary works and the life in which Mary Prince lived in Bermuda as a woman from an African descent considering the atrocities they faced from slavery. It also presents what these literary works mean to the current crop of black-skinned literature writers in Canada. Though such writers try to make their case and express their ideas regarding slavery, colonization, and violence innocently, they will always be treated as diasporic literary writers. This kind of profiling emanates from the fact that their predecessors with the same racial profiles mainly presented their literary works with the above themes. Disambiguating Susanna Moodie’s roughing it in the bush requires analysis from a different angle. Roughing it in the bush has been considered as a settlement journal. However, a closer look at it from a different perspective as in the context of Mary Prince’s legacy, it reveals the uneasy truth that Canadians subject their writers to. Susanna Moodie’s narration begins by her arrival into Canada from England in 1832,…

This is often the case when adults sleep for less than six hours on any given night and try to focus on work the next day. Despite physiological differences, the general sleep duration for adults across the world is 8 hours and anything less usually leads to workplace fatigue…
