The relation between Theory of Punishment and Criminal Law Issues The Forfeiture Theory of Criminal Punishment Introduction The forfeiture theory of punishment does have the most few advocates because the opinion carries a lot of contention to the reason why the forfeiture of own rights justifies the reason for punishment or hard treatment of almost or equal measure. That’s why I would take a stand and defend the forfeiture theory of punishment since its principles are reasonable and fair. The argument suggests the punishment of a criminal is justified until they forfeit their rights. If, for example, an aggressor inflicts an injury on a particular victim, that person deserves punishment almost comparable to such violation of right. If an individual violates a victim’s life, then they have forfeited their right to life. However, the theory raises many questions that form the basis for arguments, criticism, and support among the theorists. Such questions about the theory include; ‘Whom may we punish? How much do we punish? Who may punish? And why may we permissibly punish?’ (Wellman, 2012). Although the application of…
the trans*politics and trans-genders Before the content this week, I knew little about the trans*politics and trans-genders to be specific. I knew trans-genders are people who have exclusive sexual characteristics that are different from rational human beings. I viewed them as abnormal people. My initial point of view developed after witnessing a couple of media portrayal of trans-genders. I assumed that they were created differently from an ordinary person who contributed to my initial opinion of them. I have been learning more about these people, and have even interacted with a couple of them, and this has helped me change my view towards trans-genders. I am no longer judgmental towards any of them. Main ideas in for this week are social constructs of gender, transphobia, trans-genders and the violence they undergo, misogyny, and transwomen. Transwomen face media ridicule and are marginalized by various gender organizations (Serano, 2007). Transgendered community demand to be given rights of choosing how they define themselves since various people define them differently (Feinberg). Society has specific representations of different gender and what they should do (lecture…

Understanding an English Commentary This type of assignment expects scholars to give a detailed description and in-depth analysis regarding a particular topic. Mostly, they are used for publications that provide readers with insights about what is happening in a nation. They also give room for further deliberations where people get to share their views on the matter. Commentaries require the author to have mastered all relevant information about their selected theme. This involves conducting an in-depth analysis through research, which can include questionnaires and interviews. Since your aim in writing a commentary is to provide clarity or present a new argument about already written articles, you may be required to do a bit more research than when writing ordinary essays. You ought to be very critical when writing this particular article as shallow mindedness may jeopardize your trust from the readers. This is particularly important as you want to ensure you don’t water down the perspective of the original author, yet ensuring your view remains relevant. It is prudent to observe a respectful tone when doing a commentary assignment. H2:…
Treatment in the society Based on English Language Skills Language is an integral part of the society in which we live in. It serves to allow expression of oneself and share information freely in day-to-day life. However, its eloquence in use and expertise draws a line on how the society perceives you. In Amy Tan’s Mother Tongue, language is depicted as an agent for differential treatment upon which social relations are defined. It is also used to further cultural marginalization and prejudice, a challenge that Tan takes up responsibly to recreate their identities in the alien country with peculiar characteristics. Further, Tan uses English language difference to describe how social perceptions are formed about people speaking broken English. Tan’s mother is particularly looked down upon because of her ‘Limited’ English (Tan, p. 2). At the Hospital, Tan’s mother cannot access her scan results as shown in ‘…they did not seem to be concerned…’ (Tan, p. 3). Tan had to intervene and speak for her and this had an effect concerning the scan results as ‘…we had assurance that her scan…
