Explain how Kant sees the Relationship between morality, law and human freedom According to Kant, the connection between morality, law, and liberty are that morality condemns restricting of the freedom of innocent law or moral agent and that just as it condemns killing of innocent law and moral agents, it causes pain or instead reduces freedom abilities. In other words, Immanuel Kant discusses how the moral code helps an individual feel free as a person and, therefore, as linked to the notion of autonomy, freedom is conjoined to the law that one has morally created (Kant, Immanuel, 49). Thus, it is a civil commitment that one has to comply with fully. Kant defines freedom as an act of governing one’s action not based on desire but reason according to the law. Therefore, it is crucial to liberate freedom as opposed to the enslavement of one’s desire. The law requires us to be moral, and freedom universalizability should strive to account for the law. Indeed, Kant’s explanation of the relationship between morality, law, and human freedom is a critical piece in…

The Paradoxical Life of the Australian Outback   Life in the Outback is a true paradox. Bush life is truly a strange twist of beauty and savagery, of loneliness and mateship, of tragedy and triumph. For every fearful mother, alone in the darkness, there is also a merry band of strangers, sharing in the joys of boiled cabbage. The paradox of Australia’s greatest frontier is perhaps best highlighted by two vastly different stories of Australian hardiness, We of the Never-Never by Jeannie Gunn, and “The Drover’s Wife” by Henry Lawson. We of the Never-Never begins with the proud declaration that “we who have lived in it, and loved it, and left it, know that our hearts can Never-Never rest away from it” (Gunn, xii), while “The Drover’s Wife” depicts the almost overwhelming struggle to make a life in the bush, and the settlers’ resolve to get out, with the husband’s intending to “move his family into the nearest town, when he comes back” (Lawson 6). In We of the Never-Never, one of the most prominent themes is the mateship that…

how criminological theory can help inform sentencing options  In this activity, you are going to further develop your writing skills while applying critical thinking by explaining how criminological theory can help inform sentencing options. For example, as you read, general deterrence theory has limited effectiveness on reducing crime or recidivism. Additionally, restoration is extremely difficult to use in cases of sexual assault. However, rehabilitation seems successful for nonviolent drug offenses, and specific deterrence appears to reduce recidivism. The specific steps for this assignment are as follows and can be found in the readings for the unit, but additional Web research is also recommended: Select 3 of the sentencing options. For reference, the sentencing options fall into the following categories: Retribution, Rehabilitation, Incapacitation, Deterrence, and Restoration. [unique_solution]Find a real case representing your selected sentencing options, and provide a summary of each case. Analyze the real case, explaining how theory can help improve the sentencing option. For example, if you know that swift and certain sentencing policies may reduce recidivism, how does theory help explain their success? Additionally, if you know that…

How to Market to College Students College students connect with each other a lot, whether within the campus or outside of it. They network even when they are on holiday and even after graduating. Many successful businesses take advantage of the network that college students have to market their products. Most of the time, you will find students in their interactions talking about different brands of products in the market, comparing them with others, and often seeking advice from each other on what product is worth investing in. It is for this reason that marketing your brand to college students would expand your profits. Dealing with college students as a way of marketing your brand is the easiest and does not call for a lot of capital input. If your product is worth the investment, the word will automatically spread in and out of campus. You have to, however consider a lot of factors so that you can carefully strategize beneficial ways on how to market to college students. Consider their Budget Not all products are fit for marketing to…

Essay on Suicide             Suicide is a catastrophic matter to happen in anyone’s life and it is the 10th leading cause of death for all ages in the United States. There are 123 suicides per day in the US and 44,965 Americans die by suicide annually (asps.org). Suicide is not a solution; therefore, it is a permanent solution to a temporary predicament. For every suicide, there are more people who attempt suicide every year. Suicide is the result of people taking their own life due to intolerable depression and major life changes. The problem has already been acknowledged in the whole world and therefore looking at the preventive measures has remained the only option, whether for a friend or individual. Some of people who later become victims of suicide have indicated some unique characteristics and ignorance of these characteristics by their close friends usually lead to the incidence taking place (afsp.org). One of the unique characteristics of suicide victims is their threats of committing suicide from time to time, although in a more like jokes manner and later end up…

Combating Domestic Violence among the Female Migrants in South Korea Introduction Statement of the Problem International marriage was not a common phenomenon in South Korea as previously witnessed in assignment 2. International marriage was considered to be acceptable considering the consistency with which the widespread of the conservative thoughts were spread to stress on the lineage and racial purity. South Korea is among the countries which receive a high number of migrants globally regardless of gender. Consequently, some so many women get married in South Korea in the attempt to seek refuge. The resultant effects of such marriages have been constant domestic violence. This type of abuse has been on the rise to the levels which invoke the societal concerns both in South Korea and the global society at large. In South Korea, there exist multifaceted socio-cultural settings which facilitate the domestic violence among the migrant women. The South Korean government authorized the migration of rural bachelors so that they could intermingle and get married. The consequence was a high number of the migrant women into the country in the…

Sexual Health and Multiple Forms of Discrimination Among Heterosexual Youth Eric Anthony Grollman Social Problems, Volume 64, Issue 1, February 2017, Pages 156–175, https://doi-org.ezproxy.lib.uh.edu/10.1093/socpro/spw031   Research suggests that inequality in material conditions contributes greatly to disparities in sexual health among youth; however, scholars have overlooked the effect of one manifestation of social disadvantage—interpersonal discrimination—on sexual health. This article uses data from a nationally representative survey of 15 to 25 year olds (N = 955) to investigate the relationship between interpersonal discrimination and sexual health among heterosexual youth. I examine whether exposure to multiple forms of discrimination (e.g., race and gender) is associated with risky sexual behaviors, as well as STI history, teenage pregnancy, and abortion history. The findings suggest that experiences of multiple forms of discrimination are associated with sexual activity, including early sexual debut and multiple sexual partners. However, discrimination is not linked with condom and contraceptive use, or the negative outcomes of (risky) sexual activity. These findings emphasize the importance of examining, rather than presuming, risk associated with youths’ sexual activity.
