Movie Response Assignment Manufacturing consent is an Australian documentary film that tries to explore the political life and ideas of one of the most renowned linguists in the world and activist, Noam Chomsky. The documentary, through various sources, archival material and biography and graphical illustrations as produced by Peter Wintonick, attempts to highlight the linguist’s analysis of media and the forces behind the everyday news.  Part of the documentary is the examination of coverage of East Timor by one of the world’s leading legacy media houses, The New York Times. The narration at the beginning of the documentary regards Noam Chomsky as “arguably one of the most important intellectuals alive.” I agree with the sentiments made in the documentary that “propaganda is to democracy as violence is to a dictatorship.” It is also likely that we live in a world where elementary truths are hidden from the public due to the possible backlash they may provoke. While the freedom of the press is of paramount importance to any democratic nation, there are contentious issues that can disturb the harmony of…

Multiple Analyses Multiple analyses involve the application of industry average to estimate the share price. To analyze the value of the company, we are required to compare the company performance relative to the performance of other pear companies. The pear companies are those companies in the same category classification. The selection is also based on financial performance, capital structure and company size. Considering different social, economic factors Amazon.com, Inc. (AMZN) and Walmart Inc. (WMT) were selected. The two companies are listed in the United States of America stock market. The companies also belong in the same industry. To start with we examined the price of share price using price-earnings ratio (P/E). LGBT Issues             There have been many misconceptions about the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transsexual population. The worst of it is when being part of this population is regarded as a mental disorder. No research has directly linked either of LGBT populations to mental illness. However, this population, regardless of the many guidelines enacted to protect them, they have continued to face rejection in society. This paper, therefore, discusses the critical issues facing this population and a crisis worker’s approach to handling the problems through the use of Albert Ellis’s ABC model. As a result of the rejection from society, LGBT populations tend to be aggressive, with behaviors that suggest anxiety, depression, and low self-esteem.  With continued exposure to public scorn, these behaviors actualize and hence, placing the LGBT populations at risk of excess mental distress and disorder as a result of social stress (Harcourt, 2013). A crisis worker has to understand the vulnerability of these populations with respect to social pressure and step in with an appropriate tool to alleviate the stress and instill mental health. The appropriate tool…

Confrontation and Negotiation Module 8 Discussion Confrontation is part of every organization. Without a fight, it would be hard to realize new ideas and problem-solving ideas. However, arguments should not go overboard. The best confrontations are those that result in different options for solving problems. For confrontations to bear fruits, there must be a negotiation. Negotiations results in an amicable decision that is agreed upon by confronting parties. The best talks are those that result in a win-win situation (Singh, 2008). Confrontation and negotiations differ from one company to another. In most cases, talks in a large company take a more extended period than in a small company. Small companies have lower bargaining power, and at the same time, their conflicts involve a few people. It, therefore, becomes easy for the owner of the small company to negotiate terms faster. In large companies, some so many people may be involved in the confrontation. A confrontation may result from different views and beliefs of people. They may also be a result of a difference in terms of supply between suppliers and…

National Security and American Liberty: The Anti-Terrorism Policy Bill Bolstering National Security and American Liberty: The Anti-Terrorism Policy Bill “Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States in Congress assembled.” Terrorism has been a threat to human liberty for many years. Many lives have been lost and and properties have been destroyed by radical groups such as Al-Qaeda. These groups have been conducting attacks around the world where the United States of America is among the victims. In September 2001, the Islamic terror group Al-Qaeda coordinated a series of attacks on the USA, which resulted in about 3000 casualties and additional 6000 injuries (Chermak & Gruenewald, 2014). The Anti-Terrorism Bill seeks to serve justice to the victims and brings perpetrators to book. Terrorism has always adversely impacted human rights and the functioning of society. As such, there is an urgent need to strengthen state security efforts, boost international cooperation, and freeze terrorists’ financial sources, and enhance border security (Gaibulloev & Sandler, 2019), which is at the very heart of this bill. The Anti-Terrorism Bill seeks…
