Frontline staff Affair Evidence-based practice (EBP) is successful when there is an integration of the best evidence to the core grounds of patient care decisions. Several EPB models exist to aid nurses, clinicians, and other healthcare providers to implement the best evidence into practice. The Iowa model of evidence-based practice is the best model that is useful in my evidence-based practical proposal as it involves engaging staff on the frontline. This model helps nurses and clinicians clearly translate their research findings into clinical practice. It is always important to involve staff for innovation, implementation as well as acceptance of any practical change in the setting. This model, aligned with evidence-based practice, helps in individual personal growth for professional growth as well as staff development. This model was selected as most nurses, and clinicians find it intuitively understandable and have been applied in numerous academic settings as well as institutions. Involvement of multidisciplinary team members aid in accelerating the I implementation of evidence-based practices. The model allows the nurse or the team to determine whether the problem at hand is to…
Scenario planning Scenario planning is referred as contingency planning. Scenario planning can also be defined as thinking about the future in a structured manner. In this kind of planning the management may develop stories based on the future and how this may affect the business. These stories enable the company to adapt to the dynamic environment. In one way or the other company is able to predetermine the path to take in in case of contingencies. Elements of system thinking are also contained in scenario thinking where a contingent future may be created by combining complex elements (Peterson et al., 2003). How is scenario planning different from strategic planning? Scenario planning and strategic thinking differ in some way. Strategic planning can simply mean a long-term planning on achievement of organization’s strategic objectives. On the other hand, scenario planning involves forecasting the future will be and acting today for better future. Scenario planning is more of ‘what if’ questions and using the situation to prevent any contingent activity which might occur in the future in the present days (Schoemaker, 1995) while…
Oral Health Reports Oral health is an essential part of general health in humans. An analysis of the reports from the surgeon general’s 2000 report and the 2010 report of the center for disease control and prevention shows that demographics have changed compare to past assessments. From the reports, people with the least access to preventive services and dental treatment have greater rates of oral disease. Generally, people who come from families that live below the poverty level experience twice as much dental decay compared to those who come from families that economically better. More than a third of poor children below the age of 9 show at least one untreated decayed primary tooth. The reports also indicate that there are social determinants, which affect oral health. From the data, people with lower levels of education and people from specific racial and ethnic backgrounds exhibit high oral disease rates. In as much as 40 % of Americans reported having dental insurances, it was noted that most of them lose their insurances when they retire. Oral and pharyngeal cancers were also…
Doing the right thing Doing the right thing refers to how to live ethically and the strategies to make decisions that are right, moral and ethical (Shelley, 2017). The process of doing the right thing involves the use of collective wisdom of human to know how to act. Doing things right requires efficiency, effectiveness and expertise. Doing the right thing means actions which must be done (Bajčić, 2017). Doing the legal job is based on laws mandated to a specific group or organization for regulation. Steps based on the rules are not optional. The moral is distinguished legal to have a specific guideline of making decisions. When morality is used in making decisions, the beliefs between what is right and what is wrong are used to make decisions. The use of morality is used to make decisions; freedom is promoted, stability and security and the relationships between the colleague workers are improved. While legality refers to the state of being following the law, all legal actions must be following the law (Bajčić, 2017). Judicial decisions are created and maintained by…
The Chinese Exclusion Act of 1882 The Chinese Exclusion Act of 1882 was designed to restrict Chinese immigration to the United States. Many people on the West Coast felt that the Chinese workers were responsible for the declining wages and the economic ills experienced at the time. Though the Chinese were estimated to be about 0.002%, of the entire population of the United States, the Congress adopted the Exclusion Act to satisfy workers’ demands and lessen the widespread concerns regarding the need to maintain racial purity. The Opium Wars between Britain and China in the nineteenth century left most peasants in China without jobs. Most people were forced to go and look for jobs outside the country. In 1848, gold was discovered in California. Many Chinese moved to the United States in search of work during the period of Gold Rush. In 1852, some crops did not perform well in China; as a result, more the 20,000 Chinese trooped to the United States in search of alternative means of income. Due to the high number of migrants, racial violence increased…
Patience Patience is a very crucial factor in enabling children to be able to attain economic, social, and academic success. The efforts to encourage this behavioral trait and cognitive ability in an individual’s early life is warranted. The ability of children to be show patience in their behavior tends to predict their success they will achieve in their future. Success does not, however, occur in a straight forward manner. When a larger sample and sophisticated statistical methods are used, they tend to show that the correlation that exists between the future outcomes of an individual and patience is not very strong as earlier studies presumed. The association between success and outcomes of the future tend to disappear when confounding factors such as the demographic characteristic are controlled. To develop effective interventions, a measure for patients should be reconsidered, and other behavioral and cognitive abilities. The term patient refers to an individual’s ability to be able to delay satisfaction. This is a factor that makes patience to be evaluated using delay tasks in which a person can pick between rewards that…
Interaction between RAAS inhibitors and ACE2 in the context of COVID-19 In the article, Interaction between RAAS inhibitors and ACE2 in the context of COVID-19, Jean-Jacques Mourad and Bernard Levy provides a medical research article based on the commentary of previous literature. The authors researched to determine the effects of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) to host cells through the ACE2 receptors, leading to the manifestation of coronavirus diseases (COVID-19)-based pneumonia. Mourad and colleague further comment that SArS-CoV-2 causes chronic damage and acute myocardial injury to the cardiovascular system. The medical research scholars found that different renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system (RAAS) inhibitors present varying effects on angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 (ACE2) levels. The administration of ACE inhibitors or angiotensin-receptor blockers (ARBs) is essential in increasing the levels of Ace2 mRNA in rats. Mainly, the levels of Ace2 mRNA increase in rats provided an ARB or an ACE inhibitor. The researcher further established that losartan treatment, as opposed to lisinopril medication, increases the activity of ACE2 compared with placebo. Yet, the researchers failed to explain the mechanisms that tend to account for…
The scope of a project The scope of a project establishes the variables for consideration in the project. To establish a scope of a project, it is crucial to determine a list of distinct project objectives, features, tasks, deliverables, deadlines, and approximate costs. In summation, the project scope is generally the achievement of the deliverables and requirements successfully. In the project scope, milestones, member requirements, assumptions, and potential constraints are also determined. In summation, a project scope distinguishes what is and is not incorporated in a project allowing for the control of what is allowed as it’s executed within the course of the project. Experts advise on creating a scope statement that addresses all the variables under consideration in the project, which will act as a guiding policy in the lifecycle of the project (Frame, 2014). That said, concert project deployment is based on the scope element. The main objective is; to organize a six-hour musical concert which is to be delivered on April 3 by the musical council. The deliverables of the concert include organizing security, finding a venue…
The film “Thirteen Days” The film “Thirteen Days” starts with the scene where the United States is discussing the hazards of Soviet missiles in Cuba. Immediately, intensive discussions on how the United States government can respond begun. During these discussions, members of ExCom opposed, proposed, and advocated for different alternatives that could be used to approach the situation. Without the knowledge that the United States government had discovered the presence of the Soviet missiles in Cuba, the Soviet representative maintained that their intention was that of defensive nature. After intervention and consultation, President Kennedy decided on the way forward. The military officials defied the president’s orders while disputes stirred among ExCom members. The Soviet representative continued pushing for a war between the two sides, and the movie ends when the Soviet withdraws its missiles from Cuba on reasons that were not clear. The Cuban Missile crisis and the decision that was made during this time were critical and displayed different decision-making process models, which will be discussed. One of the concepts of the decision-making process that were consistent and were…
