Compare and Contrast Essay Instructions
- General instructions:
You will write an essay comparing and contrasting specific characters. You may focus on as many aspects, traits, or qualities as you want per character, but keep in mind that your essay must have a thesis statement. You are encouraged but not required to use an outline. All citations and Works Cited page must be MLA style.
- Specific instructions:
Your essay must be organized in the following manner:
Introduction (thesis statement)
Paragraph 1 (compare and contrast M. Butterfly’s Song with the character Salomé from Oscar Wilde)
Paragraph 2 (compare and contrast Ti-Jean with 1 of his brothers Mi-Jean or Gros-Jean)[unique_solution]
Paragraph 3 (compare and contrast Caliban with Ariel from The Tempest)
Conclusion (restate your thesis)
You are not required to cite from the plays, but if you do quotes must be pertinent and brief (no more than 40 words). Do not jeopardize your grade by citing for the sake of citing.
However, you are required to cite at least twice (no more than 40 words) from The Theory Toolbox. Choose 2 different chapters for your citations (subjectivity, difference, or ideology).
