Diversity in Healthcare Topics
Owing to the diversity that exists in the contemporary society and all the spheres in the society with healthcare included, there is need to ensure that varied topics that revolve around fostering cohesiveness, diversity, collaboration and sound conflict management is taken into account (Barr & Dowding, 2019). In healthcare, the patients and health practitioners are individuals from different walks of life and such attribute translate to the fact that these individuals have diverse cultural and social aspects that creates a clear-cut distinction between them. Thus, in a presentation, topics such as open communication, the importance of diversity in workplace, inclusivity, teamwork, and effective conflict resolution mechanisms must be highlighted since their significance is immensely unmatched in a workplace environment that revolves around diversity.
During such presentations, the teaching strategies that are adopted must align to achieving the outcomes of the topics mentioned above. The teaching method, such as group discussions that entail giving individuals an issue to discuss allows participatory learning among the employees. It ensures that effective recommendations on how to improve such aspects are highlighted to a great extent (Barr & Dowding, 2019). Other teaching strategies, such as visual presentations and role-plays, are essential in giving deep insight into the magnitude of several topics related to individuals working in a multicultural healthcare workplace.
The effective team-building strategy in open communication is through fostering active listening among individuals. Active listening leads to improved rapport and dispels miscommunication among individuals (Barr & Dowding, 2019). In inclusivity, the best team-building strategy is through collaboration. Collaboration ensures there is a balance in diversity among the employees. Further, in attaining trust, the team-building strategy that could be used is through building relationships and nurturing positive rapport among the employees. Such an initiative would enhance openness and aspects of solidarity among individuals in the workplace. Finally, the precise definition and subsequent definition of nursing roles could be useful in reducing conflicts among individual employees (Barr & Dowding, 2019). With a clearly defined and communicated roles, there is a high likelihood of reduced friction and conflict among the nurses.
