Different healthcare systems and hospitals have different capabilities and approaches for their bundled care. However, many hospitals fail to achieve efficiency in financial management for various reasons. According to Ginter, Duncan, and Swayne (2018), one needs to employ creative ideas for it to work (Ginter, Duncan, & Swayne, 2018). Cooperation between the healthcare providers, their employers, and payers is one of the crucial factors required for them to create the right product for their employees or consumers.

The Four P’s of market and strategy plan promote the vision and mission of the organization in many ways. They help the health organization to make the most appropriate decision relative to their strengths and weaknesses (Chen et al., 2018). First, the organization needs to identify the most suitable product for it to offer in a bundled-care model. Sometimes hospitals face significant challenges in their bid to identify the most appropriate product to contribute to their clients. They have to address various considerations, including whether it would be suitable for them to concentrate resources on acute or chronic bundles (Chen et al., 2018). That is one factor that made most hospitals to focus mainly on specific services. Cleveland Clinic, St. Johns Hopkins, and Mayo Clinic, for example, are big health organizations which, based on their significantly large size and reputation in dealing with complicated health problems, chose to focus mainly on acute health problems. Local hospitals and health centres focus primarily on chronic conditions which require a significantly long time to manage (Chen et al., 2018). A health organization that identifies its strengths and weaknesses to make essential decisions has higher chances of achieving its mission and vision statements.

After choosing the kind of products to offer, health organizations then decide on the appropriate pricing. Hospitals create a fee-for-service environment. Health organizations do not focus mainly on covering costs, but more on providing services that meet the needs of clients (Chen et al., 2018). The setting of prices and the kind of services is affected significantly by the prevailing competition. Health organizations try to minimize pricing and maximize the quality of their services but at the same time, make a profit.

After determining the appropriate pricing, the organization develops promotion approaches. On this, the organization tries to provide a differentiated offering to the market. It decides on the kind of picture it wants to create in the minds of consumers (Chen et al., 2018). Some would choose to be recognized as discount players, while others would prefer to be identified as premium players. This step generally involves creating other factors that will make the organization unique apart from price.

The last step is that of placing an organization’s products to the market. It involves creating approaches that will help achieve the organization’s goals within the required time. Some companies, for example, offer short-term services while others provide long-term(Chen et al., 2018). Many health organizations, for example, provide occasional cancer check-up services to specific groups of people at different times of the year.

New strategic 4 P’s: Processes, Platforms, People, and Partners is commonly applied when organizations want to strategize at higher levels. The factor of “people” requires the organization to identify the available skills in its workforce and identify gaps (Chen et al., 2018). They then look for appropriate skills to fill those gaps. Partners are the people who help the health organization achieve its goals. On this, organizations also look at the current partners and their support for the progress of the organization (Chen et al., 2018). They identify gaps and fill them with necessary partners. Processes refer to the mode of performing various roles at the health organization. It focuses more on cooperation among people and teams in the bid to achieve organizational goals. Platforms include infrastructure and technologies required to perform corporate activities.

The platforms lens enables the healthcare organization to make proper decisions regarding infrastructure and technology necessary to perform hospital operations. Technology is one of the factors in the healthcare system that evolves at a significantly fast speed (Skinner & Staiger, 2015). The changes affect how hospitals and facilities perform daily. That factor calls for healthcare managers always to identify current changes and possible future changes and make necessary adjustments.
