How Grant will Aid Accomplish my dream
My name is Natalie Disque, currently a Ph.D. student at Walden University. My dream of becoming a college professor began with a passion for teaching. When I was young, I used to get fascinated by how my teacher gave me insight by guiding me from the unknown to the known world. The fascinating process of learning new things and facts amazed me to the extent that I felt terrible when a school day ended. I discovered I had a passion for teaching when I was still an undergraduate student when I tutored an elementary school child in math. I looked forward to the tutoring sessions because it was an opportunity to practice teaching. On the days of the tutorials, I planned how the meeting would go, and I would ensure that I stuck to the schedule. By the end of that term, the student I was tutoring improved significantly, and that was the onset of my teaching dream.
I natured my passion when I began teaching online courses at another college since 2005. In as much as I was teaching college students, I had this burning urge to progress my studies and become a full college professor. I believe that the next generation of college students will pave the way to more significant innovations and cures for the world, hopefully doing it with ethics andproviding a positive influence on society. Seeing that college students play a vital role in the future of the nation, I would like to play a part in molding them not only professionally also socially.
To achieve my dream of becoming a college professor, I enrolled for a Ph.D. programme at Walden University. Although I work a full-time job, I manage to make time for my studies, evident my 4.0 GPA after 50+ credit hours in the program. The greatest obstacles in achieving my dream are family obligations and minimal time I have to spare for my studies. I face a substantial financial constraint seeing that my first child is also in college. The cost of both courses has placed a massive burden on my shoulders. My second child suffers from ailments which keep me continually in and out hospital a few times a year. My second child had asthma by age 1, Supraventricular Tachycardia (SVT) by age 5 (which is a heart condition), Type 1 diabetes by age 12, SVT surgery at age 15, aFib by age 16 (which usually only 70+ years of age get). It is a continuous and hard struggle as I try and make time for everyone including my other child, my full-time job and my studies too.
The grant will contribute significantly to achieving my dream. First, the financial burden I am facing will get lifted. For the programme I am undertaking, each quarter costs over three thousand dollars for one course, in addition to the university, requires four residencies which cost over thirteen hundred dollars, exclusive of travel and food costs. The financial aid will enable me to finish the programme conveniently. Furthermore, the grant will allow me to focus more on my studies since constant financial stress will be minimized. I will be at peace knowing that my first child is also getting a quality education and I can manage time between my ailing child, my job and my studies too.
I look forward to achieving my dream of becoming a college professor with the help of the financial grant. Being a professor has been my life-long desire and vision that started when I was young. I have natured the dream to this point where I need the financial aid and support to finalize it. I want to retire and teach college students, like I am being prepared now, to help them accomplish their dreams too for the betterment of their future and that of society at large. I am looking to get assistance with this grant to cover the costs of my future quarters and residency to achieve my dream of becoming a college professor.
