importance of the web for business
Most of the people around the world are now using the web to search for information, make purchases, fill request forms, or research on new products. A company that does not have an online presence in this era is losing its market and fast. Many people use the information available on the internet to check the credibility of the products before purchase(Sohaib & Kang, 2013). The web is more comfortable to access and convenient to use, making it the number one source of information. A customer willing to make a purchase will go online search for the available brands of the products, identify the various sellers or providers of the particular product and later make the purchase based on the information gathered.
To understand the importance of the web for business and the ways through which it used, I will give a real-life scenario. When I decided to switch from an android phone to IOS phone, I had an easy time thanks to the World Wide Web. I got to the Google search engine to search for the best iPhone that fit my budget. I went on Amazon, used the keyword ‘I Phone to search for the available apple phones within my budget range, and ordered the product online. On the Amazon, website was the full specification of the phone. Thus meant I was able to0 make a buy with all the information at hand. Beyond the aspect of price, information about the phone played a part in my decision making. Don't use plagiarised sources.Get your custom essay just from $11/page
Immediately I made the purchase and the product delivered at my doorstep, I decided to check on its warranty coverage. On the Apple website, I visited the warranty checker tool and keyed in the serial number of the new phone. Five-piece of information about my device were provided on this tool. The information includes the type of equipment. The validity of the purchase date required to get the warranty support, my the tech-support status, shows if the phone is still under warranty for services and repair and the expiration date for that warranty, and eligibility of the device to have its warranty extended under the AppleCare policy.
Moreover, I noted that the Apple website has a Frequently Asked Question tool on their website. Customers may have different questions due to information they have acquired wrongly or perception. The site provided answers to the FAQ, which then eliminated all the opinions I had about the apple warranty system.
The Apple website was beneficial to me as a customer and to Apple as a company. Apple did not pay anyone to answer my support call and provide me with all the information available on their website. Also, the information provided and the path to the information was clear and precise enabling me to access the information with ease. Apple Inc benefits significantly from the website. The company can share all its data to a broad audience at the same time. Hundreds of thousands of its customers globally can access the information on the website at a go. The website also reduces the cost of doing business as free support websites replace some jobs. However, sites are only beneficial when the information provided is accurate and easily understood by its audience.
The above real-life scenario shows the importance of business websites are and also provides a couple of ways in which it can be used for technical communication. Additionally, websites can be used for technical communication, such as provide documents, newsletters, show instructions, and provide general company information. Every company must have a website to help it remain competitive in the economy today. Websites can be used for marketing, customer support, sales, among others. In general, a website is an invaluable platform where companies tell their customers why they should choose the company.
Peer Response
In response to the initial post, it shows that the web communications are different from the traditional forms of communication in several ways. First, web communication offers a fast-paced and instant communication. The time used to deliver the message to the audience after the sender hits send, enter, or submit down to microseconds(Sohaib & Kang, 2013). Instant communication makes sure that there is little to no delay in availing important information to customers, individuals, or other organizations. Several business tasks such as responding to a customer’s complaint, updating team members of the project status and scheduling meetings are done almost instantly.
Secondly, the web allows for extensive communication. All customers or employees can receive the same message at the same time. Business information posted on the company’s website or social media platform can be accessed by millions of customers globally. The traditional mode of communication did not provide this phenomenon. The fact that web communication is instant and extensive makes it the most convenient form of communication for business.
