Application of theory

Managing stress helps stabilize and improve the well-being of anyone. Such character and will help eliminate stressors, progress resiliency, craft suitable methods that can help manage stress on a short-term basis, and also ultimately improve personal well-being. Personally, I know I have my shortcomings when it comes to managing stress on a short-term basis. My tolerance to cope with stressors on a short-term basis needs improvement.

In many cases, I have found myself projecting my stress to fellow working partners, and this affects my working relationship with them. Adopting a strategy such as a goal-setting will help create a new positive habit that helps manage my stressors and keep my working relationships intact. Establishing a goal, defining specific actions and behavioral requirements, generate accountability and reporting mechanisms, and lastly, identifying a criterion of success and a reward are the four steps to goal setting that I intend to adopt.

Relevance to self

Learning about the dimensions of social intelligence was crucial for me as a manager. Such a dynamic helps in the management line of work since you can formulate ways to interact with fellow workers and form trust and excellent communication. The ability to cognitively and emotionally relate to how people respond is a dynamic I would want to stick with me. Also, having social intelligence gives a person an accurate perception of other people’s emotional and behavioral responses, a trait each manager should have.

 

 

Application in practical terms

I plan to utilize the process of eliminating short term anticipatory stressors by using the goal-setting technique. By doing so, I will be able to identify al potential and current stressors and find ways to resolve them amicably. Also, work redesign can help improve the working partnerships within the workplace, create pen feedback channels, and establish excellent customer relationships, among other aspects. Lastly, the application of social intelligence will go a long way in social problem solving and having a good background on social knowledge.

Importance to leadership

Resiliency and social intelligence are pillars in leadership that help any person under such authority to exercise their powers withing limits and ensure that they serve for the greater good. Social intelligence will ensure that each lobbied argument, opinion, or factual statements can be interpreted as they should be, and decisive actions are done within the confines of law and decency. Also, developing such habits helps managers perfect other aspects of leadership, such as time management and practicing gratitude.
