Opinion Essay on Vaccines

Introduction

The vaccine is defined as the medicine which trains the immune system of the body to fight the diseases that it has never come across before. In this essay, I am for vaccines, and therefore I support the fact that vaccines should be used. Below are my reasons why I support vaccines. This essay will, therefore, cover the vaccines and the bases why I support vaccines.

The body usually builds the defense system so as to fight against foreign germs, which could make a person sick, which is called the immune system. Conversely, to build the immune system, the body has to be exposed to different germs. When the body has vaccines, it produces the antibodies which fight the disease without a person getting sick. These antibodies usually stay in the body for the rest of a person’s life hence preventing a person from getting sick by a particular disease.

Vaccines usually help in preventing the spread of contagious diseases and, therefore, essential for a population that is at risks, such as older adults or young children. Even though some people cannot get vaccines due to age and certain medical issues, its advantages outweigh the disadvantages by far.

If the vaccines are stopped in children, then certain diseases could start emerging again, such as smallpox, and there might be epidemics just like how it used to be. In that case, vaccines can help in disease elimination (Alrahili et al., 2018). This can quickly be done without global eradication of the causative microorganism. It can easily be achieved through a two done vaccination regimen. As an illustration, the combined measles, mumps, and rubella vaccine could quickly eliminate those three diseases. Accordingly, the diseases with environmental reservoir like tetanus, rabies, and Japanese encephalitis eradication may not be possible, but the global disease elimination is a feasible objective.

Vaccines can help in controlling mortality, morbidity, and other complications. As an illustration, the efficacious vaccines can protect people administered before exposure. As an illustration, the vaccine efficacy against the invasive Hib disease 90% and above, was experienced in Europe, Native America together with African children. The vaccine is also essential since it mitigates disease severity (Familydoctor.org editorial staff, 2019).

Prevention of related diseases and cancer

Vaccines help in protection against associated diseases. As an illustration, vaccines protect against diseases that are related to targeted conditions. For instance, the measles vaccination usually protects against multiple complications such as dysentery, malnutrition, bacterial pneumonia, and keratomalacia (Alrahili et al., 2018). Vaccines can also help in cancer protection. As an illustration, cancer is usually caused by infective agents. In that case, the vaccination against pathogens such as chronic hepatitis B, which causes liver cancer, can help in preventing associated disease.

Conclusion

In summary, I am for the opinion that vaccines are beneficial and should be put into use. Some of the reasons why I say, so areas highlighted above. The benefits of vaccines outweigh its side effects disadvantages.
