Psychodrama
Question 4
Psychodrama is a technique utilized in psychotherapy. It comprises activities such as dramatization, self-representations to mention but a few. It conducted with the guidance of trained personnel, and it helps individuals to learn some insights concerning their illness (Blatner, 2018). The technique avails a creative session whereby individuals have the opportunity to explore and resolve their concerns. In my viewpoint, among all methods incorporated in Psychodrama, role-playing is useful to utilize in groups.
Kipper (2015), argues that in a psychodrama session, clients gather in clusters, and an individual is selected to serve as a protagonist. The protagonist is aided in the performance of existing activities by other members. Therefore, I chose the role-play technique to portray the characters in the performance of the events in the selected scenes. It is because, in role-playing, clients represent individuals or objects that are problematic in their daily existence (Kipper, 2015). It is because it helps patients, more so the mentally ill, to reminisce past occurrences in their lives. It aids in alleviating emotional trauma and any post-traumatic event as a result of a detrimental encounter.
The technique is advanced in scope as it applies to individuals of all age groups. As for me, I would utilize the method in children who had had emotional trauma or any other form of abuse. Using role-playing, for instance, in storytelling, the children can openly express themselves (Nolte, 2019). As a result, they can gain new behaviors, and they can find their identity by recognizing themselves. I would be confident in the technique as it helps children in the development of their emotions and thus helping in their overall growth. In the case where storytelling is used, the children will be able to open up and give their experiences without any fear. Such cases make it easy to understand such children hence able to help them.
