Report on Job’s Speech

Today, I want to tell you three stories from my life. That is it. No big deal. Just three stories. Jobs began his speech. It is worth noting that three stories Steve Jobs, co-founder and CEO of Apple, were in regards to how he started his journey and seemingly made it in life. For starters, Jobs started with connecting the dots as the first story. Jobs talked about dropping out of college to ensure to concentrate out of other things such as calligraphy. Ten years later, Jobs included what he had attained into the design and use of Macintosh.

In short, what Jobs intended to communicate in this case is that people and organizations have to trust in themselves to attain their goals and objectives in life. Companies, for instance, should trust their resources when making decisions that might impact operations. Trusting the actions of the choices employees make is critical to success (Gallo, 2015). Jobs decided to drop out of college and pursue calligraphy because that is where his interests were and believed in himself. In management, the required people have to make complicated decisions and work towards attaining effective results in the future.

Jobs also teaches about loving one something does. Companies could achieve more when employees are passionate about what they do. Additionally, being passionate about professions and careers assists elevates an individual on the development ladder. In telling this story, Jobs commented on love and loss. He noted his early passion for computers, which prompted him to build Apple but later on lost the brand after a disagreement with the board of directors. Jobs later got fired from the entity. Nonetheless, Jobs loved what he did, and getting laid down did not relent his quest. The lesson here is clear (Gallo, 2015). When individuals love their routine jobs, even if they face obstacles on the way, a determination will provide effective results. There are times when employees face uphill tasks and challenges in places of work that might hamper their determination to succeed in life. Jobs informs that love and loss are part of life, and hence individuals should not lose focus regardless of the situation.

The final lesson that Jobs provided is to follow the heart. When making career choices, individuals sometimes fail because they follow a crowd and do not believe in their abilities. In making decisions, people should understand they have nothing to lose because death is the ultimate journey. Regardless of the consequences, it is fundamental to try something an individual thinks is fundamental (Gallo, 2015). For instance, a person might be working in a company but believes the place does not provide a platform for success and career development. Such people should opt to make decisions to try new this elsewhere. They should not be stuck to the same thing but try new things.

The speech emphasized triumph over diversity. Each of the lessons from this speech involves sacrifice or struggle. Tales of victory over struggle resonate with people as humans are hard-wired to empathize with each other, and stories represent the platforms through which individuals bond.  The Apple CEO calls his attention at the end of the speech in which he advises people to stay hungry and foolish. To learn and develop better abilities in life, individuals must always be ready to listen because listening is how information for development is attained (Gallo, 2015). What is more, listening and being prepared to learn elevates individuals’ understanding of something. The persuasive speech is highly fundamental in the field of strategic human resource management as it provides information on how to navigate and be successful in life regarding careers and professions.
