Scope Management Plan

Purpose

This Scope Management Plan has a crucial objective of defining the scope for Phill’s Photos Social Media Project. This Scope Management Plan provides the formal guideline to plan, define, control, as well as verify the project’s scope in the entire life of this project. It will offer the directions on the roles and the responsibilities for all the project participants, Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) and WBS dictionary. It will also manage scope with the changes to the extent, as well as the verification measures for the range to ensure that deliverables achieve their intent based on the project scope.

Scope Management Roles and the Responsibilities

The definition of the roles and the responsibilities the way they may relate to the scope is a critical part of the Scope Management Plan. This section provides the necessary details of the purposes and the duties for them to remain transparent in the entire life of this project.

Project Sponsor

Director of Phill’s Photos, Ms. Phillomena Meriwether: This Project Sponsor is an approval authority for the Phill’s Photos Social Media Project. She is solely responsible for the oversight of all the aspects of this project and accepting the project deliverables. She also approves any kind of the submitted request for the scope change.

Project Team

Project Manager, Mr. Zhong Wang: The Project Manager will be responsible for the scope management for the Phill’s Photos Social Media Project. He will have the responsibility of reviewing and even determining the impact of all the requests on the scope changes. He will also submit the change requests on the scope to Project Sponsor so that she can approve them. The project manager will also be responsible for the development of the scope control and the validation measures. He will be responsible for the communication of any changes in the scope of the entire project participants as well as updating all the project documentation depending on the changes. The project manager will also be tasked with the responsibility for the development of the Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) and the WBS Dictionary, along with the scope statement for this project.

Design Engineer, Mr. Wan Chong: Design Engineer will be responsible for helping Project Manager in the development of scope statement, the WBS, the WBS Dictionary, the scope control, and the validation measures. He will also be responsible for the identification and the validation of the requests on the scope change concerning the product design, which he will, in turn, communicate them with Project Manager.

Process Engineer, Mr.  Li Alex: Process Engineer will be responsible for helping Project Manager in the development of scope statement, WBS, WBS Dictionary, scope control, and the validation measures. He will also be tasked with the responsibility of identifying and validating the requested changes on the scope concerning the production processes that he will then communicate with the Project Manager.

Project Stakeholders

Various stakeholders are involved in Phill’s Photos Social Media Project. It will be necessary for the project stakeholders to identify the required changes to the project scope that should be communicated to the Project Manager. The project stakeholders may also assist the Project Manager in validating the requests on the scope change and even determine their effects.

Scope Management Planning

For Phill’s Photos Social Media Project, the Project Manager will be responsible for scope management. The scope of the project will be defined through the formal collection and the review of the objectives as well as the requirements of the project as outlined in the Project Charter, the preliminary scope statement, and the available project documentation. The Project Manager will lead the review, and it will include Project Sponsor, the Project Team, and all the Stakeholders. Scope Statement

The scope for Phill’s Photos Social Media Project will include design, testing, and acceptance of various social media platforms for the product line of this company. The deliverables of this project involve the new product that meets the performance requirements of the company with a small diameter as compared to the present product that requires the complete technical data package (TDP). The criteria for acceptance for this project include the successful selection and operations of all possible social media platforms that this company will use to upload the pictures of its products as much as possible so that the customers can choose from a variety of products. The successful testing will be according to the performance requirements of this company, the vetted, and the documented social media platforms that can meet the process requirements for this company. It includes the product or process data and the specifications that are reviewed and even approved internally. The acceptance of the Operations Department starts to procure the gadgets that can be used for social media platforms. The project’s acceptance criteria should be met within the first 90 days from the time that the project kicks off. This project will have an allocated budget of $150,000. All the resources that are assigned to the project will be internal, and any extra supplies should be requested through and even approved by Project Sponsor.

WBS and the WBS Dictionary

Both the WBS and the WBS Dictionary, together with scope statements, are significant elements used to define and even manage project scope. The WBS offers the hierarchical decomposition of work that will be performed in this project to allow for the smooth management of the range through clearly understanding the work packages that do not exceed 40 hours of the work, yet are not below 4 hours of each job. He will also utilize the frequently occurring meeting with the project team for the certainty that all the completed work is according to the correct work packages that support the project objectives and deliverables. Any project participant may submit the Change Request for the Project Scope (CR) when determined that the change in the scope is required for this project. The person that proposes the difference in the project scope should submit the CR to Project Manager by outlining proposed changes and its necessity. The Project Manager then reviews the proposed changes with the project team so that they can determine if it should be done and the impacts that it may have on the project. The proposal for the change is then presented to all the project participants before it is forwarded to Project Sponsor for the review and the approval. Any changes that the project manager approves for the project scope will need the updates to all the project plans and the documentation, which is the Project Manager’s responsibility. The Project Manager is then tasked with the responsibility of communicating the changes to all the project participants after the Project Sponsor has approved.

Scope Verification

This Scope Management Plan for Phill’s Photos Social Media Project is created to affirm that all the project work supports the project’s scope directly. In that case, the Project Manager has the responsibility of verifying that the interim deliverables correspond to the deliverables that had been specified initially in the scope statement, WBS, and the WDS Dictionary of this project. The associate deliverables can be accepted after the Project Manager has confirmed that the performed work is aligned and even in support of the scope of the project.
