Should I participate in a cardiac rehabilitation program?
According to my perspective and experience, I would suggest participating in a cardiac rehabilitation (CR) program, especially if you have or had a minor cardiac problem. Experts recommend taking a CR program if you have or had one or more of these following conditions:
- Any myocardial infarction or heart attack
- Acute coronary syndrome
- Chest pain or pressure
- Heart failure
- Artery stent placement
- Bypass surgery
- Cardiac valve surgery
- Heart transplant
- Peripheral artery disease featuring leg pain while walking
Even if you have done with the medication part, taking a cardiac rehabilitation program reduces the chances of hospital re-admission and cardiovascular death by 50%. Starting from slight workouts to losing weight and body fat, you get very less chance of having another cardiac arrest or stroke. A cardiac rehabilitation centre helps in promoting healthy lifestyle behaviours, both in terms of diet and physical workout, thereby reducing the feelings of anxiety and depression.
Some things are worth to be experienced for, rather than listening or reading. So I would suggest you to try the CR program at least once to see the difference in results.
