            Non-profit organizations are usually focused on empowering the people and helping them improve the quality of their lives. They usually offer their services for free and rely on funds from donors who are usually well-wishers and the governments. The target groups include the youth, pregnant women, HIV/AIDS victims, and refugees. The aim is to help these people find meaning in their lives and love themselves. The youths are considered to be most vulnerable or at risk due to peer pressure and lack of jobs. Through peer pressure, the youths learn how to take drugs and become addicts. Lack of jobs allows the youths to hang out in groups, which increases the chances of peer pressure. Idleness makes the youths result in drugs that end up damaging their lives further. A non-profit making organization would help in keeping the youths busy and ensuring that they do not result in drugs. The organization can also offer training to the youths and impact them with skills that will help better their future.

1. Who are the potential members of the co-operation?

The youths at risk of engaging in drugs and other illegal activities are those from humble backgrounds who were not able to further their education. These youths are unlikely to get any formal jobs, which will help them better their lives. Another target group is the youth from third world countries, whereby there is limited access to formal education, and the youths rarely get role models. To reach out to these youths, the organization needs to form partnerships with the leaders in these countries, especially those far away. Partners are also needed to help mobilize resources needed to run the organization. The factors to consider when looking for a partner are the location and motives of the partner. The partner to help run the organization should be located where the needs or youths at risk are to make it easy to reach out to them. Those funding the organization should have the motive of wanting to help people. The organization can still partner with learning institutions to help train the youths and post them in jobs..

2. Factors to consider when establishing a partnership

The SWOT analysis can be used in determining the best location for the non-profit making organization. The strengths of the organization will help in determining which tasks to undertake. Does the organization have enough partners who are willing to offer them financial support? Without enough financial support, it may be impossible to run a non-profit organization since a lot of funds are needed. The weaknesses of the organization could be that the organization is unable to reach out to the youths since they are located in different areas. Most of the youths in need of help are from the marginalized areas, and it could be impossible to reach out to them. The organization could also lack enough trainers, therefore, limiting its operations. The opportunities available to the organization are that the number of youths in need of help is large, and hence the project could not be considered to be obsolete. The threats of the organization include rejection by the local governments on the basis of lack of proper documentation or failing to positively impact the youth. The youths could also reject the program and opt to be given funds to help carry on with their lives.

3. Steps in forming the partnership

The organization needs to outline its activities, which will help in achieving the goals and show the partners that it is serious in achieving the project. The activities to help reach these goals of the organization include training staff on how to handle the youth and impact them in a positive way. The youths will be trained on how to start small projects which can help them earn a living. Training can be done in groups to help increase the number of people who will be reached out. The training can also be done in the learning institutions, especially after they have been established. Other community leaders can also be trained to help in relaying information to the youths. In addition, rehabilitation will also be done for those youths who are already addicted to drugs.

Budget of the Program to Present to Partners

The budget for the project is $550,000 in year 1, whereby $150,000 will be spent on labor, $200,000 on equipment, $100,000 on travel, $100,000 on contracts and $50,000 on others.  For year 2 the budgeted amount is $370000, whereby $100,000 will be spent on labor, $80,000 on equipment, $100,000 on training, $60,000 on contracts, and $30,000 on others. $180,000 was budgeted for year 3 whereby $50,000 will be spent on labor, $30,000 on equipment, $50,000 on training, $20,000 on contracts and $30,000 on others. The organization will fund part of the project; the government and other financiers will help bring the project into completion. In order to convince the partners to fund the project, one is required to present a budget that shows how the funds will be allocated. Partners need to be helped to understand that their money is being spent in the right way. The organization should also be registered as a non-profit making and have legal documents.
