The population for the study
Population
The population for the study refers to the group with the observable characteristics. On the other hand, the target population is composed of the individual with a particular nature distinct from other population. The population comprised of the 100 Aboriginal people living in Canada
Sample
The sample refers to the smallest group, which is obtained from an accessible population (Walliman,2017).The sampling procedure describes the procedure the researcher will use to gather people for the purpose of the study. In this case, the purposive sampling was used to identify the required sample due to the fact that the technique allowed the researcher to peg the information to the research objective. The sample of 90 aboriginal Canadian were interviewed for the purpose of providing an in-depth assessment of the research questions.
Data Collection
The primary data was used to collect information. The primary data provided the best option since there was an immediate feedback to the researcher to assess the problem and identify the efficient ways to address the problem. The outbreak of corona virus to a greater extent posed a challenge towards the data collection. This is because I was forced to email someone to set up a meeting from Aboriginal Association of Student at York University. Additionally, the place remained close for fear of the corona disease. Thus, compelled to do the research via email due to the fact that physical meeting was restricted.
Data Validity and Reliability
A reliable instrument is one that produces consistent results under the similar methodology. The instrument need to be accurate and free from errors. The results should also be repeatable. The reliability of the research instrument is defined in three fundamental parameters such as the extent to which the measurement is repeated will remain the same. Secondly, it must maintains the stability of measurement over the period. Lastly, it should provide a similarity of measurements over period. The reliability of the measuring instrument shows the relationship between the scores which are obtained from various administration of instrument. Therefore, the reliability of the instrument will be acceptable when the degree of relation is relatively higher. On the other hand, the Validity of the measuring instrument determines whether the research will measure the truthful in the research results. It assesses the degree of accuracy and whether the data variables to be measured are captured
Data Analysis
The data uses more of qualitative and quantitative analysis. In the case of the quantitative data, the results will be coded and analyzed using the statistical package for social science (SPSS – 20) for data tabulation and analysis. The percentages will be extracted using the pie-charts and frequency distribution tables in describing the Sample population data. The percentages and frequency distribution tables were used in description of the samples. In order to assess the relationship between the dependent and independent variables, the regression analysis was used. This was used to test the differences in the respondent feeling towards the Aboriginal issue in Canada and the extent of discrimination in various public offices and institutions.
Research Ethics
The study seek to identify the moral aspect of the research. It is used to assess the researcher’s competencies while undertaking the research (Hennink, Hutter, Bailey,2020). The researcher need to be congenial and repulsive. Therefore, the research need to comply with the ethical rules of the university.
Permission
I obtained permission from the respondent prior to the interview. I submitted a form that they were to fill in as an acceptance to be part of the interview process. It is important to obtain the express permission from the university and the respondent to minimize the conflict, complication and any other challenges that may arise during the course of the research study (Ghauri, Grønhaug, & Strange, 2020). This implies that there needs to be an ethical compliance to minimize the possibility of breach or violation of ethical guidelines. The participants need to be given time to ask the questions regarding the study and the nature of the data collected. The signed consent need to be dated and the copy sent to the participant.
Confidentiality
Confidentiality refers to handling information in such a way that it is not shared to any other third parties (Walliman,2017). It include the principles of trust that ensures the participant will not obtain information in order to gain or deceive them in order to publish the outcome. The confidentiality assures the researcher that the needs of the research are addressed and will not be disclosed to any other party other than for the purpose of the research (Ghauri, Grønhaug, & Strange, 2020). Additionally, the real identity of the respondents are unknown and coded to ensure confidentiality principle is adhered.
Informed Consent
The informed consent is a vital process of research process which requires one to obtain the signatures (Hennink, Hutter, & Bailey,2020). This forms the basis of making true decision on whether or not to participate in the research process. Those who do not understand the language need to be presented the questions in the language they understand (Walliman,2017). . This must be done in advance before initiating the study related procedures and within the recommended timelines.Furthemore, special consideration on the timing when the population. The researcher also need to give them ample time before the research process begins
