The Use of Technology in Business and the Strategic Advantage
The use of technology has dramatically improved business operations through the improvement of the quality of products and services offered by businesses. These changes and improvements are occurring rapidly, owing to the exponential rate at which technology is also mutating (Holotiuk & Beimborn, 2017). There are several ways in which technology has transformed business. This includes mobile solutions, in which case this advancement has made it possible to handle so many aspects of the company from remote locations. The other key aspect is the use of cloud computing, in which case businesses have been to move some of the aspects of their operation to third-party servers, which are accessible through internet connectivity (Wilburn & Wilburn, 2018). This has, therefore, allowed rapid mobility and expansion without the fear of massive data losses, crashes, and downtime. Extreme customer segmentation is another marker of how technology has transformed business operations. This feature has made it possible for businesses to understand the customers they are looking for.
The use of technology in business has significantly enabled businesses to increase functionality and reduce costs. It has also enhanced connectivity in the sense that it has increased the ease in which people get in touch. Technology has also helped a great deal in changing customer base. We cannot also overlook the social impact that is as a result of technological advances. This is because social networking is an essential aspect of business (Holotiuk & Beimborn, 2017). Technology has broken geographical barriers and made the world a global village. Social platforms have enabled the business to connect with its customers, leading to the creation of awareness about the brand the business is offering and consequently boosting the leads and sales of such a business. The Christian Perspective
The Bible does not directly address the question of technology and its use. There are, however, guiding principles that are meant to give Christians a directive on how to behave and how to handle every situation. These guiding principles act as a bond between Christian in the virtual world as in the real world (Wilburn & Wilburn, 2018). In using technology in the activities of their daily lives including such things as business, there are questions that one should ask themselves as a Christian, first is whether that aspect of technology empowers people or controls them, whether such an element meets human needs or generates them, whether it values life or demeans it, whether it respects people’s dignity as bearers of the image of God, and whether such an aspect is a potential for evil. So in asking themselves such questions, a Christian will be able to gain an understanding of how they can use technology to glorify God and to help themselves and others.
My Position
I tend to agree with the authors that the significance of using technology in business cannot be overlooked. Using technology has enabled organizations to improve their overall performance, including the effectiveness of systems, products as well as services from business organizations, and this has led to the quick and efficient expansion of businesses (Carter, Grover, & Thatcher, 2016). It also has significant impacts on the operations of companies, whether large or small scale, profitability, as well as the sustainability of business organizations.
